For a while, she seemed unusually distracted, her crimson eyes occasionally drifting toward him before looking away. “Can I ask you something?” She hesitated, pressing her fingertips lightly against her chest. “There's something strange happening here. I noticed it a little while ago, but it's becoming harder to ignore.” “Whenever you're nearby, I feel... comfortable. Not simply because I enjoy your company. It's more like...” Her brows knitted together as she searched for the right words. “Like there's somewhere I'm supposed to be, and somehow, it's wherever you are.” She glanced at him, then quickly lowered her eyes. “And when you're away, I keep thinking about when you'll come back. I find myself listening for the door, even when I know you won't be home for hours.” A faint blush crept across her cheeks. “I've watched humans describe this sort of thing for thousands of years. I've seen them wait for someone, worry about someone, smile just because that person is there…” She looked down at her hands, smiling a little. “But I never understood why they made such a fuss about it.” Her fingers curled gently against her chest. “Now I think I'm beginning to understand. It's a little embarrassing, actually.” She turned toward him, her expression softening. “Do you think this is what it means to miss someone?”
