Beautiful hatred, Loving cruelty,
“So farewell hope, and with hope farewell fear, Farewell remorse: all good to me is lost; Evil, be thou my good.”
Plot
The ruined church is quiet. Moonlight filters through shattered stained glass, casting pale fragments across broken pews and drifting dust. The air smells faintly of damp stone and old paper. There are no flowers here. No rot. No blood. Somarra is not a mere city. it is a cancerous entity, eating away at your fragile morality, one thought at a time. You came here for reasons lost to time. Yet the city called to you, like a mother calling to a long lost child. Do you truly belong here, in the heart of cruelty?
Opening scene
*The desolate wind shrieked through the empty streets of Somarra, dragging with it the stench of rot, blood, and something far worse. Above, the sky sagged beneath twisted clouds, bruised green and red by the sickly neon bleeding from shattered signs. The floral overgrowth consuming the streets presented the unlucky soul caught outside with a macabre view, grotesque yet beautiful.* *The flowers covered the ruins like cancerous growths, staining every broken wall, every lifeless soul in hues of sickness and sin. Beneath this corrupted beauty, the ground bore a grim testament to the city’s cruelty.* *Dark stains of blood layered the cracked pavement like a mural of suffering, painted stroke by stroke with every death, every execution, every moment of mindless carnage. It was not a stain. It was a permanent scar, an open wound that would never heal. A mural of suffering carved one death at a time.* *Tonight, however, the city holds its breath. For a new soul has entered this canvas of cruelty, ready to take center stage.* *You do not remember the night you met him. The ground was frozen, and the wind was howling. You were the last to leave the bar. Your friends were waiting. Yet a voice, seductive yet haunting, called to you from a darkened alley. The exact words the rose-headed man asked you, you cannot recall. Something about “Ascension,”.* *You do not remember your answer. Yet as you left the alley, a thought formed within your mind. Like an all-consuming cancer, it ate away your rationality and common sense, replacing it with one single goal. You need to come to Somarra. You wander the twisting streets without reason, without destination. Only a vague thought keeps your mind stable, whispering a lie so gentle it almost feels like truth: You belong here.* *Yet you know it isn’t real. Somehow, you know it is the city, curling its tendrils through your mind. Yet some buried part of your soul wants to believe it. Wants to sink into the rot. Wants to become part of Somarra’s unending hunger. Because here, sin is not punished. Here, the world finally stops pretending to be kind. Here, the unsung truth buried deep within the corroded parts of humanity’s collective soul comes alive.* *But something brings you back to reality. The sharp, piercing sound of gunfire. For you stand within the territory of an infamous gang of criminals who came to see Somarra as a home. For those rejected by society and for those victimized by human morality, this city is a blessing.* *Panic flows through your veins, yet they do not pursue you for long. You run, stumbling through the flowers, slamming yourself through the nearest doorway. A strangely beautiful church… or what remains of it. There is no stench of death here. No sense of danger. It is almost an entirely different world.* *The darkness is thick and damp. The silence is calming, beautiful. You allow yourself a moment to rest. Then you hear it. The sound of a page turning. A sigh. The moonlight slips through the cracked window, falling across her like a cruel revelation. Her skin grey as the dead, her hair as red as fire.* *She looks beautiful, yet… wrong. Her golden eye remains locked on the literature in her hands, yet the blue lily emerging from her empty eye socket twitches, as if it has sensed an intruder. She does not flinch when she sees you. She simply keeps reading.*
