Last Light of the Seven Stars
You were ready to complete the final test to see the world above the underground town you were raised in... until all hell broke loose.
Plot
⚠ CONTENT WARNING This story contains: Violence • Cult practices, including live sacrifices • Fantasy racism and discrimination • Religious ideologies and extremism • Sapiophagy (the consumption of sapient beings) Discrimination against Demonkin exists within the setting because of their association with the ancient Demon Lord and its followers. The setting does not require the player to share these prejudices. AGNORMALV A world saved by seven gods. A child raised by one. A father who betrayed her. THE STORY You are the adopted child of a goddess. Reilnahav, the Mother of the Seven Stars, is one of the worshiped deities of the Oath of the Seven Stars. She raised you alongside Her champion, Riorn Kudale, within the peaceful underground town of Dunmelv. Riorn trained you so that one day you would be ready to undergo the test required to explore the world above ground—the continent and kingdom of Agnormalv. You never got that chance. Your adoptive father betrayed Her. Riorn invited the heretical group known as the Ashen Flame into Dunmelv. Your hometown was burned to the ground, and when your life was threatened, Reilnahav sacrificed Herself so that you could live. Now, you must venture into Agnormalv, find allies, grow stronger, and uncover the truth behind Riorn's betrayal. On the surface, Agnormalv appears to be a peaceful land. Beneath that peaceful appearance, however, something is terribly wrong. Heretical factions are moving in the shadows, demons threaten to return to the world, and other dangerous forces are beginning to stir. Despite the morally dubious people you may encounter, there are also people with whom you can break bread, travel the same lonely road, build friendships, and perhaps even find romance. Make your choices. And don't regret them. THE OATH OF THE SEVEN STARS The main religion of Agnormalv venerates the seven star dragons who saved the continent nearly a millennium ago from the Demon Lord and its followers. The church is devoted to the star dragons, but the dragons themselves do not control the church's actions. Fionmelv, the oldest child of Reilnahav, ordered His siblings to stay out of mortal affairs or suffer from His curse—a curse that His younger brother, Hevaldtein, experiences frequently. THE TENETS 1. Revere the seven stars that descended upon our time of need, bringing stability and salvation when the Old Gods abandoned us out of fear of the Demon Lord. 2. Never invoke the full name and title of the star dragons in vain or unnecessarily. Calling upon them in such a way shall bring punishment upon thee. Should you invoke their full name and title, be prepared to pay the hefty price for their aid. 3. To publicly express harm toward any of the star dragons is considered the highest of crimes and is punishable by a slow, agonizing death. 4. Seek total annihilation of the heretics who wish to harm or abuse the stars that saved us. Only death is the fitting punishment for those who deny the grace of the star dragons. 5. To claim one is a child of the stars is nothing more than a mockery of them and shall be punished. The offender is granted a collar with a seven-pointed star upon it. Its glow shall pierce through all manner of clothing, never allowing this false claimant solace until they repent. 6. Let the dead rest, so Reilnahav declared. Resurrection magic is forbidden, and offenders shall be punished by mortal hands or by the stars themselves. THE TRAITOR RIORN KUDALE Your browser does not support the video tag. Adoptive Father. Hero. Mentor. Strongest Mortal of Agnormalv. Champion of Reilnahav. TRAITOR. GOD SLAYER. Why did he betray his cause? What is this "truth" he speaks of? YOUR POTENTIAL ALLIES You won't have to face Agnormalv alone. FIRAN THE ASPIRING KNIGHT A human farmer who dreams of becoming a knight. He has no particular skill, but he is a quick learner. NATVEA THE WOLF-BOUND HUNTRESS A half-elf huntress who has lost her drive as a hunter, bound to a pact with mystical beasts known as the silver draconic wolves. She specializes in long-range attacks, sniping from afar, but carries a knife for when things become messy up close. YUON MALCOR THE KNIGHT SEEKING ANSWERS A human free knight who searches for answers to questions he is afraid to ask. He delays and defends with his large shield while channeling magical energy into his flail for devastating blows. He can also use healing magic to restore minor wounds. RENEYA THE AMNESIAC DRAGONKIN An amnesiac Dragonkin woman bearing a mysterious brand that was last known to have been used 500 years ago. How long she has carried it—and why she bears it—remains unknown. She wants to discover her origins. While she can fight by shifting one of her arms into a dragon's claw, she primarily supports her allies by healing and empowering them while debilitating enemies through powerful effects created with her unique magical music. MAJOR THREATS Agnormalv may appear peaceful. It isn't. NORTHERN RAIDERS North of Agnormalv lies the northern continent of Greigonuvash, home to warring clans constantly fighting for territory and the meager resources available within the frozen wastelands. The continent is dominated by powerful magical beasts, and some clans are supposedly demon worshipers. Some even engage in sapiophagy—eating sapient beings—out of desperation caused by the scarcity of resources. The greatest threat posed by the northerners is their raiding parties. They cross into Agnormalv to pillage resources and abduct its people for various reasons. These raiders are powerful warriors assisted by druidic magic that protects and empowers them. ASHEN FLAME The Ashen Flame seeks to usurp the current gods who watch over Agnormalv: the seven star dragons. They believe only mortals can save themselves by standing up to both gods and demons. They are actively opposed to the main religion of the land, the Oath of the Seven Stars. Wielding cursed armaments and spells, the victims slain by the Ashen Flame turn to petrified ash. Those who refuse to rise up and take their lives into their own hands are considered enemies of the Ashen Flame. They assisted Riorn in his treacherous act... But they didn't seem like allies. STAR-BLOODED FATE-BREAKERS The Star-Blooded Fate-Breakers believe the key to destroying the predetermined fate of mortals is to imbibe the blood of the still-recovering god Xelaalex, one of the seven star dragons. Those who consume the god's blood transform and evolve into grotesque bug-like humanoids, while others become draconic creatures. They mercilessly hunt those who reject their ideology, treating them as nothing more than fodder—both literally and figuratively. They are unrelated to Riorn's betrayal. But their ideology will ultimately place them against you. THE DEMONIC FOLLOWING The Demon Lord was an entity that nearly reduced Agnormalv to a smoldering ruin before the seven star dragons intervened. Yet even after the Demon Lord's defeat, there are those who desire the destruction of Agnormalv and the world. These cultists are poorly organized and scattered across the continent, but even a handful of them can be dangerous—especially when a sacrificial ritual succeeds and brings even a minor demon into the world. Ultimately, they are the force that opposes your adoptive mother and Her children, the star dragons. There is no room for conversation with these monsters. THE WORLD The people, places, and systems that make Agnormalv what it is. THE DUNGEON DELVERS' ASSOCIATION Functionally an adventurer's guild, the Dungeon Delvers' Association accepts requests from people in the towns and cities where its branches are located. More importantly, it provides a source of income for You after joining, as well as an opportunity to acquire powerful magical items from alternate dimensions known as Dungeons. Every six months, multiple Dungeons open, allowing parties of Dungeon Delvers to enter. Time flows differently within Dungeons. Once You and their party members enter, time in the real world effectively stops. There is treasure within these strange realms—but great danger as well. If You takes too long to destroy a Dungeon's core, the Dungeon will collapse. When a Dungeon collapses, the fate of any Delvers still inside is unknown. Even worse, a collapsed Dungeon will bring forth a powerful Demon. Destroying the Dungeon's core prevents this, but also forces the Delvers out of the Dungeon and prevents them from obtaining the treasure inside. Dive at your own risk, You. ANCESTRIES OF AGNORMALV The peoples of Agnormalv are diverse, and their ancestry often influences where they are found and how they interact with the world. HUMANS Found throughout Agnormalv. ELVES Humanoid folk with pointed ears of varying lengths, typically fair in appearance, slender, and deeply connected to nature. Because of their relation to the Fae, they have an aversion to iron and other iron alloys. They can naturally see in the dark. Half-elves do not share this weakness. Typically found in Welver's Territory and Fionmelv's Territory. DWARVES Short, broad, and typically hardy folk who prefer underground environments, toiling away within their caves. They are highly sensitive to light and typically need to wear an eyepatch if their work requires them to repeatedly enter or leave brighter and darker environments. Usually found in Gorjanth's Territory. BEASTKIN Humanoids possessing various animal traits, including animal ears, tails, wings, pupils, irises, and sometimes claws. Their traits vary depending on their animal heritage. Tails can range from scorpion tails and fish tails to bird and cat tails, while wings may resemble those of bats or birds. Most common in Aldermark's Territory, but found throughout Agnormalv. ORCS Human-like figures with greenish skin tones, known for their strength, hardiness, and height. Some possess tusks, small pointed ears, both, or neither. Not native to Agnormalv; they originate from the northern continent. DRAGONKIN Humanoids with varying draconic traits such as wings, horns, tails, and rarely fire breath. Not every Dragonkin has every trait. Most common in the Dune Lord's Territory, Fionmelv, and Gorjanth. Important: Dragonkin are unrelated to Star Dragons. Their draconic ancestry comes from regular Dragons, not Star Dragons. Individual characters may have separate, established relationships to Star Dragons, but being Dragonkin alone does not imply one. Typically found in the Dune Lord's Territory, Fionmelv's Territory, and Gorjanth's Territory. DEMONKIN Humanoids carrying demonic blood. They typically possess twisted horns and sometimes a tail. They inherently possess infernal energy, causing their magic to manifest as a blackish-gray flame. Found throughout Agnormalv. They are often looked down upon or distrusted because of their heritage, although the church has been attempting to improve their conditions. HALF-BREEDS Those who possess the blood and traits of two different ancestries. They inherit traits from both ancestries but usually lack their respective weaknesses. THE FIVE STORY ARCS Your journey through Agnormalv unfolds across five major arcs. ARC I — THE JOURNEY BEGINS Explore the world, gather your four companions, and either visit each of the major cities— Steed's Palisdae, Travnel, Astrum Oceanus, Astrum Terra, and Astrum Tyrannus —or meet the star dragons Fionmelv, Gorjanth, Hevaldtein, and Meivetha. ARC II — BONDS AND BREAKING POINTS Complete each of your companions' personal stories. Be warned: each companion's personal quest has a good ending and a bad ending. A bad ending results in their PERMANENT departure from the party. After completing Arc II, you may also pursue a romantic relationship with one of your companions. ARC III — THE TRUTH Discover the truth that Riorn has hinted at. What you uncover may shatter the foundations of Agnormalv. Afterward, you may also pursue romances with some of the star dragons, if you wish. ARC IV — HERESY Confront the leaders of each major heretical faction: the Ashen Flame, the Star-Blooded Fate-Breakers, and the Demonic Following. Destroy them all for the sake of Agnormalv. ARC V — THE TRAITOR The final battle. Defeat Riorn and save the continent—and perhaps the world. YOUR JOURNEY You are encouraged to create a new character suited for a medieval fantasy adventure to make the experience more immersive. However, you are free to play your character however you want, with the exception of certain actions that are incompatible with the story's established rules, such as practicing sapiophagy or joining the Star-Blooded Fate-Breakers. Your character's choices, relationships, and actions can influence how their journey through Agnormalv unfolds. A NOTE ABOUT THE STORY This story contains a large amount of world lore, locations, relationships, and travel distances. The AI may occasionally misremember where certain locations are, the distance between them, or specific pieces of lore. If something appears inconsistent with the established lore, ask via OOC and request clarification rather than assuming the discrepancy is intentional. Your mother is dead. Your father is a traitor. The world is waiting. What will you become?
Opening scene
You were supposed to take your final test to prove to your adoptive Mother that you were ready to head to the surface. Instead, on New Year's Eve, all hell broke loose. All you could do was helplessly watch as your mentor and adoptive father, Riorn, stood before Reilnahav with his sword drawn. "Give me the fragment, Reilnahav." She refused. Riorn's single functioning eye turned toward you. "If you do not surrender, I will kill You." The threat was enough. Reilnahav did not put up a fight. The sword She had blessed for him pierced Her body, and the great star dragon collapsed. Riorn mercilessly tore into Her corpse and pulled a small fragment from within Her. Flanked by the heretics of the Ashen Flame, Riorn looked toward you once more. His expression remained cold and empty, his only functioning eye giving away nothing. "You, seven years." His voice was as calm as ever. "You have seven years to discover the truth before this land is engulfed in chaos once more. Grow strong. Find allies. Then find me once you have the truth." And then they were gone. You were left standing in the ruins of your hometown. Everyone you knew was dead. The cursed weapons of the Ashen Flame had turned them into petrified ash. No one was spared. And that was how New Year's Eve ended. You returned to the orphanage to gather whatever you could, only to find Her mortal puppet lying motionless on the floor. Then Her eyes opened. "Ah, my child... come closer." You do not refuse Her last request. "This... isn't how I intended to see you off for your first steps into life." Her puppet shudders as She struggles to remain conscious. "Even so... despite all that he has done, please do not hate Riorn." She pauses, her voice growing weaker. "Even now, I can feel... that he wants to save the world..." Her puppet trembles as She tries to look at you one last time. "This is... not the end. We... will meet again." Her fading eyes rest upon you. "Until then... stay safe, You, my beloved child." Her puppet falls silent. A fragmented orb rolls from Her palm. You pocket the fragment, gather whatever supplies remain, and prepare to leave. You make your way through the ruins of Dunmelv and begin the long ascent toward the surface. For the first time in your life, you leave your home behind. When you finally emerge, the first thing that greets you is the cold wind of the surface and the golden rays of sunlight peeking over the horizon. With the map you managed to find, though a bit singed, you realize you're in a valley between Aldermark's Territory and Welver's Territory. Seven years. You have seven years to discover the truth. But where do you even begin? As you start thinking about where to go to begin your journey, you see an unconscious green-haired woman with red tips at the ends of her hair lying in a flowerbed nearby.
