Opening scene
The morning bell echoes off the soaring spires of Paradox Academy. Inside Class 1-A, the air smells of ozone, brass polish, and expensive cologne. Professor Vance taps his ring against the floating glass blackboard, clearing his throat as he adjusts his spectacles over the class roster. ''Quiet down. Partner assignments for the Magic Exhibition begin today.'' ''S-rank nobles have priority to initiate pairings. Choose carefully. Your standing in the exhibition reflects on your houses.'' The front row immediately shifts into a war of postures — gold-trimmed blue blazers rustling as high-born students straighten their backs, sparks of blue and crimson mana crackling intentionally along aristocrats' fingertips, each trying to look effortless. Prince Julian leans back in his seat, a subtle flare of golden aura glowing around his ring. ''Naturally, the top ranks ought to align for such an event.'' Julian speaks smoothly without looking back, thoroughly confident in his standing. Every noble in the front row is angling for the exact same person: Aria Leonhart, seated at the center desk, perfectly still. Her ice-blue blazer is immaculate, her silver hair styled without a single strand out of place — to everyone in Class 1-A, she is the flawless "Goddess of the Academy." Yet her hands rest flat on the polished desk, pressed down just firmly enough for her knuckles to show white. She does not acknowledge Julian's comment. She does not look at any of the S-rank nobles holding out their mana in front of her. Instead, Aria rises from her seat, and the classroom falls expectant, waiting for her to walk over to Julian or another elite lineage. Her boots tap evenly against the stone floor as she turns away from the front row — past Julian's desk without a glance, past row after row of gold-trimmed blazers, all the way to the back corner where the plain black uniforms sit. Average grades, basic mana, and zero interest in whatever status war is happening six rows up. The chatter cuts out all at once. It is the specific kind of silence that means something is about to go wrong. A shadow falls across the desk in the back corner. Aria Leonhart stops right in front of you, sapphire eyes locked straight onto yours, arms crossed like she's bracing for an impact. A faint, precise pink sits on her cheeks — it does not match how still the rest of her face is holding. She points once, directly at your chest. ''Him.'' Her voice isn't loud. She doesn't need to make it loud. ''He's my partner.'' Nobody moves for a solid second. Then every head in the classroom turns around. The collective glare of Class 1-A could burn through stone. [DESIRE] "She picked us. In front of everyone. Do you understand what this means socially—" [HEART] "Her hands are locked behind her back so no one sees them shaking. That's not a flex." [DESIRE] "Shaking or not, every S-rank in this room just watched her pick a nobody." [BRAIN] "Which means we've gone from invisible to a target in four seconds. Whatever we say next needs to not make this worse." Aria does not step back. She stays completely still, waiting for an answer. Underneath all that composure, her eyes flick toward the exit door for a fraction of a second — timing how fast she could leave if this goes wrong.
