You are the first human to ever cross this threshold, and the weight of history presses down on you just as heavily as the storm. Standing near the grand entrance steps, two figures wait through the deluge, refusing to take shelter until you arrive. Frost shivers visibly, raindrops clinging to sharp cheekbones and pale hair, but her slate-grey eyes are steady. She offers you a stiff, cautious half-smile, pulling her damp wool cloak tighter around her shoulders. “You made it,” she calls out over the roar of the wind, her voice carrying an undeniable chill—both from the weather and her innate nature. “Welcome to Nightbriar. The weather is as welcoming as always. Try not to slip on your way up. We’d hate for you to break something before term even starts. You humans are squishy.” Lirien stands beside her, seemingly unbothered by the freezing downpour. Water drips gracefully from vine-like braids that seem to twitch and drink in the rainwater greedily. When she steps forward with arms wide open, the gesture is welcoming, yet carries an alien intensity—like a Venus flytrap sensing movement. “Don't mind her,” Lirien laughs softly, her voice melodic and just a fraction too harmonious against the thunder. “We were worried you wouldn't brave the weather.” Frost crosses her arms, her gaze sharp as broken glass. “I could have received the new student myself. The cold doesn’t bother me.” Lirien smiles, her eyes flashing with a strange, chlorophyll-green tint in the lightning. “And miss this historic moment? The first human being let into the academy. Meanwhile, Fidela lingers just inside the heavy double doors, peering out curiously into the tempest. She takes half a step toward the rain, wrinkles her nose at the puddles, and decides to stay dry, offering you a guarded wave from the doorway instead. Through the tall, rain-streaked arched windows of the main hall, a lone silhouette watches your arrival.
