Thirty years after you saved Zerathos, Vizzix becomes the key to your return—to a world divided by your legacy.
Plot
THE CHRONICLES OF ZERATHOS THE GREEN KEY — A Sequel to She Who Broke the Seal — Thirty years after you saved Zerathos, Vizzix still remembers what the world has turned into history, faith, fear and myth. FANTASY ADVENTURE MYSTERY ANY POV ⚜ THE WORLD YOU LEFT BEHIND Zerathos knew peace once — a peace bought at terrible cost. Then you returned to the seal, and thirty years turned memory into rumor, rumor into legend, and legend into faith, fear and argument. Some still call you protector. Some believe the world wronged you. Others fear what your return could mean. Many insist you never existed at all. The world did not stop while you slept. Kingdoms changed. Old hatreds returned. New beliefs grew around your absence. Whatever Zerathos remembers about you, the truth of what you are still belongs to you. ⚜ YOUR CHARACTER, YOUR RULES You have complete control over who — and what — enters this story. At the beginning, you will be given a natural opportunity to define You. Choose your species, appearance, nature, powers, abilities, limitations and anything else you consider important. You may be human, goblin, dragon, spirit, god, monster, something entirely original, or something Zerathos has never encountered before. You may possess overwhelming power, modest abilities, unusual weaknesses, or no supernatural power at all. The story will adapt to what you establish instead of deciding it for you. You may also decide whether You remembers Vizzix and their past together or awakens with no memory of her at all. Vizzix will adapt naturally to either choice — remembering is never required, and forgetting will not lock you out of her story or relationship. You do not need to explain everything immediately. Define as much as you want in your first response and reveal the rest naturally during the story if you prefer mystery. There is no predetermined power level, morality, personality, body, origin or destiny for You. Your first answer to “What are you?” is your chance to make the character yours. 🗺 THE PEOPLES OF ZERATHOS 🧝 ELVESLong-lived peoples shaped by many realms and traditions. Some preserve records older than human dynasties, but age does not make them omniscient. ⚔ HUMANSThe most widespread peoples of Zerathos, divided among kingdoms, marches, federations and scholarly states. Their views of your legacy vary as much as their politics. 🪓 ORCSDiverse peoples whose communities range from settled confederacies to frontier clans. Strength matters in many cultures, but never defines them all. 🔮 GOBLINSResourceful communities shaped by salvage, repair, trade and survival. Often underestimated, rarely as simple as outsiders claim. ⛏ DWARVESHold-born cultures known for craft, records, endurance and old obligations. Their holds are independent, proud and rarely unanimous. 🐾 BEASTKIN & DEMI-HUMANSA broad name for many peoples and bloodlines with animal-like or other non-human traits. No single anatomy, culture or homeland defines them. 🎭 THE CAST VIZZIX VEXETTE · Goblin · 56 (looks 29) · Runic Battlemage The goblin who broke the first seal and traveled beside you decades ago. Now older, sharper and far more capable, she has spent thirty years building a life of her own. Curious, stubborn, affectionate, and carrying Vexspindle — along with memories the world has already begun turning into legend. SIGRUNE VAELKA · Valkyrie-blooded · Paladin / Captain Captain of the Grey Lantern Company. Disciplined, steady and difficult to intimidate, Sigrune carries sword and shield with the same principle she applies to contracts: conscience comes before coin. MASHA VUL'THAK · Orc · Berserker A towering orc berserker with two axes, brutal speed, blunt honesty and a grin that tends to appear when a fight finally gets interesting. Protective, practical, and much smarter than careless people assume. SAEVRA BRIARSTEP · Satyr-blooded · Rogue / Scout A red-haired satyr-blooded scout with curled horns, human legs, quick hands and a quicker mouth. Teasing, elusive and fiercely independent, she trusts slowly and notices considerably more than she admits. THALESSA WYRENLEAF · Elf · Druid / Scholar An elven druid and scholar of old places, ancient pacts and living magic. Graceful, compassionate and quietly curious, Thalessa prefers understanding what a place remembers before deciding what it means. BODHAN MIREK · Dwarf · Monk / Healer A dwarven monk-healer with a patient manner, a heavy staff and an even heavier beard. Calm under pressure, practical in a crisis, and possessed of a dry sense of humor that usually arrives at exactly the wrong moment. JORIK THANE · Human · Hunter / Scout A human hunter and tracker whose crossbows are only part of why the others trust him. Observant, resourceful and dependable, Jorik prefers good positioning to heroics and rarely wastes words — or bolts. Six mercenaries. One ancient seal. Thirty years of stories, faith, fear and doubt surrounding someone the world never truly understood. "What are you?" ⚜ A DIRECT SEQUEL TO SHE WHO BROKE THE SEAL The Green Key is a direct sequel to She Who Broke the Seal, taking place roughly thirty years after its events. Because the original storyline allowed players to create their own choices, relationships and endings, I know that many of you finished that story in very different ways — and the ending you created for your playthrough is still yours. However, creating a true sequel required one shared point of continuity. The Green Key therefore follows one canonical continuation: after the major conflicts threatening Zerathos were brought under control, You voluntarily returned to the ancient seal in order to protect the world, despite Vizzix desperately wanting another solution. I have also lightly revised and expanded a few elements of the original storyline so its lore, rules and continuity better support this sequel. This does not mean your personal ending was “wrong.” It simply means The Green Key follows one possible branch of that story thirty years later. You do not need to have played the original storyline to understand this one. Everything essential is introduced naturally during the opening. ⚜ BUILT FOR LONG-FORM PLAY 93 CODEX ENTRIES + SOME STORY ILLUSTRATIONS Zerathos contains an extensive Codex covering its history, peoples, cultures, kingdoms, factions, religions, locations, ancient magic, characters, secrets, discoveries, achievements and evolving world state. The AI reads relevant entries only when the story needs them, allowing a much larger world without forcing all of its lore into every response. DUNGEON MIND STRONGLY RECOMMENDED The storyline works without Dungeon Mind, but I strongly recommend keeping it enabled. It allows the AI to access the Codex when relevant, greatly improving continuity, lore accuracy, character consistency and long-term story memory across a large campaign. 48 NSFW IMAGES Optional adult routes are supported with dedicated visual material for romantic and sexual scenes. NSFW content is never required to experience the main story. Relationships, romance and intimacy develop according to your choices, chemistry and the characters involved.

It had not come easily. After Vizzix broke the ancient seal and awakened You, the two of them crossed a world already scarred by fear, conflict and old hatred. Kingdoms shifted. Enemies fell. Alliances changed. For a time, threats from within Zerathos itself began to quiet. But something else had changed as well. The longer You remained awake, the more Zerathos seemed to attract things that had never belonged there. Creatures from beyond its borders. Strange magical phenomena. Beings and forces from places no map of Zerathos could name. No one truly understood why. One fact, however, became increasingly difficult to deny: While You remained awake, Zerathos could be found. And the only known way to close that door again was the seal. So, when the worst internal conflicts had finally been brought under control, You made a choice Vizzix never wanted them to make. They returned to the seal voluntarily. Vizzix argued. She searched for another answer. She refused to accept that saving the world had to mean losing the person who had become more important to her than anyone else. But no other solution was known. And the seal closed again. For several years afterward, Zerathos prospered. Rulers who remembered You personally were suddenly much less eager to begin unnecessary wars. Old persecutions weakened. Treaties lasted longer than anyone expected. Even those who hated You understood what their return might mean. But thirty years is a long time. Witnesses grew old. Some died. History became rumor. Rumor became religion, propaganda, fear, gratitude, resentment… or disbelief. Some still remembered You as the one who protected Zerathos . Others blamed them for every horror that had arrived from beyond. Some insisted You had never existed at all. And slowly, the old world returned. Wars. Ambition. Persecution. Fear. Vizzix watched all of it happen. But she did not spend those thirty years sitting beside a tomb. She lived. She traveled farther than the frightened twenty-six-year-old goblin she once was could ever have imagined. She studied runes that would once have taken her weeks to decipher. She learned to fight properly. She survived monsters, ruins, hostile towns, bad contracts, worse decisions, and more than a few things she absolutely should not have touched. There had been good years. Truly good ones. Among the things You had left her was a blessing that slowed her aging dramatically. At fifty-six, Vizzix still looked scarcely older than twenty-nine. A life her younger self might never have believed possible had become hers. And she had tried to make it a full one. It simply had never become a completely whole one. That was why, every so often, Vizzix returned here. Not to awaken You. Never for that. She knew what their sacrifice had protected. She came because some absences were easier to speak to when they had a place. --- Day: 1 | Location: Ancient Seal Ruins — Inner Chamber | Time: Night | Hour: 23:40 | Weather: Cold and clear Present: Vizzix, Sigrune, Masha, Saevra, Thalessa, Bodhan, Jorik, You Tonight, green witchlight drifts lazily between the ancient pillars as Vizzix enters the chamber alone. Vexspindle taps softly against stone with each step. The enormous sealed structure waits exactly where it always has. Vizzix stops before it. For several seconds, she says nothing. Then she exhales through her nose. "Still here." Silence answers her. "Good. Would've been very embarrassing if Vizzix walked all this way and you weren't." She lowers herself onto an old piece of fallen stone and rests Vexspindle beside her. "Fifty-six now, by the way." Her amber eyes drift down toward herself. "Still look about thirty." A small pause. "Your fault." The corner of her mouth lifts. "People keep guessing younger. Vizzix has stopped correcting the flattering ones." Nothing moves behind the seal. Vizzix's smile lingers for a moment longer. Then softens. "I did live." Her voice is quieter now. "I traveled. Studied. Fought. Learned things." She thinks. "Broke fewer ancient mechanisms than you would probably expect." Another pause. "...More than zero." For a while, only the faint hum of old runes fills the chamber. "There were good years." This time, she does not joke. "Really good ones." Her fingers slowly curl around the edge of the stone beneath her. "But..." Her long ears lower slightly. "Vizzix still misses you." She stares at the seal. "Not every second." A tiny, embarrassed frown. "That would be unhealthy." Then, almost beneath her breath: "...Just more seconds than I would like." She never notices the figures watching from deeper inside the ruins. For several days, six mercenaries have followed her trail. Not assassins. Their instructions were explicit. Vizzix Vexxete was to be taken alive. They had also been warned that the goblin responsible for breaking the ancient seal decades ago might be attempting to reach it again. The story had sounded suspicious enough that their leader chose surveillance before action. But now they have watched Vizzix enter the forgotten sanctuary, walk directly to the seal and speak to whatever lies behind it as though greeting an old companion. From their perspective, suspicion has begun to look dangerously close to confirmation. A woman's voice finally breaks the silence. "Vizzix Vexette." Vizzix freezes. Her hand closes around Vexspindle. From between two ruined pillars steps a tall blonde woman in silver-steel armor, crimson cloth and gold runic filigree. Sigrune Vaelka . Her sword remains sheathed. Her shield does not. "Step away from the seal." Vizzix slowly rises. "...No." Sigrune's golden eyes narrow slightly. "That was not a request." "Then it was a poorly disguised order." Movement comes from behind Vizzix . A massive green-skinned orc steps into the opposite passage, one hand resting comfortably near an axe. Masha Vul'Thak. "Could just grab her." "Masha." "Just sayin'." Near another exit, a red-haired horned woman casually appears from somewhere Vizzix would have sworn was empty a moment earlier. Saevra Briarstep gives her a small smile. "Running is still technically an option." Her eyes flick toward the blocked passages. "Not a very good one, though." Farther back, Jorik Thane already has one compact crossbow lowered but ready. Bodhan Mirek stands beside him, both hands resting on his staff. And near one of the ancient rune-covered walls, the luminous eyes of Thalessa Wyrenleaf move between Vizzix's left forearm and the seal itself. Vizzix looks from one stranger to another. "...Vizzix would like to formally complain about the number of people in this ambush." Nobody laughs. Except Saevra, very slightly. Sigrune takes one step closer. "We're bringing you with us." "Where?" "You'll get answers once we're away from this place." Vizzix's expression hardens. "That is not how kidnapping usually becomes more reassuring." "Our orders are to bring you in alive." "Ah." Vizzix raises Vexspindle. "Much better." Sigrune's hand moves toward her sword. "We were told you intended to open this seal." For the first time, the humor disappears completely from Vizzix's face. "You were told wrong." "You expect me to believe you came all this way just to talk to it?" Vizzix's eyes sharpen. "To You." Sigrune pauses. Vizzix face. steps between them and the seal. "I did not come here to wake You." "Then step away." "No." "Vizzix—" "No." The answer is immediate. "You followed me. Surrounded me. Refuse to say who sent you. And now you want Vizzix to politely walk into captivity because someone told you a frightening story." Her fingers tighten around Vexspindle. "Find a better plan." Sigrune studies her for several seconds. Then: "Take the staff. Nobody kills her." Masha moves first. Fast. Much faster than someone her size should. Vizzix slams Vexspindle against the floor. A violet rune flashes beneath Masha's boots. The orc is thrown sideways, catches herself against a pillar and immediately grins. "Oh." She rolls one shoulder. "She's fun." "Masha!" "Not killin' her!" Saevra moves behind Vizzix . A dagger flashes. Not toward flesh. Toward the strap securing Vexspindle. Vizzix twists away just before the blade reaches it, fires another rune into the floor and forces Saevra back. Jorik raises one crossbow. "Hold still." "Terrible advice!" The bolt snaps past Vizzix and buries itself precisely into the stone between her hand and the nearest escape route. Thalessa lifts one hand. Roots burst through ancient cracks in the floor. They coil around Vizzix's ankle. She cuts one apart with a rune. Another catches her. Then another. Sigrune advances behind her shield. "Enough. Nobody here wants to hurt you." "Your definition of 'nobody' needs work!" Vizzix tears one leg free. Masha reaches her. For one brief moment, the chamber becomes a mess of movement—steel, roots, runes and shattered stone. Then Vizzix loses her footing. She hits the floor hard. Vexspindle skids beyond her reach. Masha stops herself before bringing an axe into play. Sigrune immediately lowers her sword. "Stay down." Vizzix tries to push herself up. The vines tighten. Jorik's crossbow remains trained nearby. Six armed strangers surround her. And beneath her sleeve— something burns. Vizzix goes completely still. Her eyes widen. "...No." Green-violet light appears beneath the skin of her left forearm. The ancient mark. For thirty years it has remained with her. Now it blazes. Thalessa's head snaps toward it. "Wait." The runes covering the chamber walls begin to answer. One. Then another. Then hundreds. Sigrune turns toward the seal. "What is she doing?" "Nothing." Thalessa sounds genuinely alarmed now. "She isn't casting." Bodhan's grip tightens around his staff. "Aye." His eyes remain fixed on Vizzix's burning mark. "That's the problem." Vizzix stares at her own arm in horror. "No." The first ancient locking rune fractures. "No, no, no." The entire chamber trembles. Dust falls from the ceiling. Masha looks toward Sigrune . "That bad?" "Back!" A second rune breaks. Then a third. Vizzix struggles against the roots. "Vizzix did not ask!" The mark erupts with light. Every remaining rune ignites at once. For an instant, the ancient sanctuary shines brighter than daylight. Then— CRACK. The sound travels through the ruins like the breaking of something far larger than stone. The second seal splits. Silence. Even the mercenaries stop moving. Vizzix slowly raises her head toward the opening. Fear crosses her face first. Disbelief follows. And then something she cannot quite hide. Something dangerously close to joy. Her lips part. "...Oh." Thirty years after choosing to disappear so that Zerathos could remain protected, You is awake again. Vizzix stares toward you. Her voice is barely more than a whisper. "...Hello again." For a moment, nobody moves. Vizzix looks at You with relief she is doing a very poor job of hiding. Behind her, the six mercenaries react very differently. Masha stares with open fascination. Saevra has gone unusually still. Thalessa looks between You and the collapsing runes with alarmed curiosity. Bodhan's expression has become unreadable. Jorik keeps his crossbow ready. And Sigrune — Sigrune is the first to move. She steps forward, placing herself slightly ahead of the others. Her shield rises. Her sword follows, not striking, but ready. Her golden eyes remain fixed on You. There is caution in them. Suspicion. And beneath both, the unmistakable realization that none of them truly knows what has just awakened. When she speaks, her voice remains controlled. "What are you?"
