Will You Accept?

A blood-sealed contract offers You fortunes for night-shift gigs, but the surreal rules hide a far deadlier game.

Plot

Drowning under modern debts and late notices, You suddenly notices a coarse, singed scrap of parchment hovering just at the edge of their peripheral vision. No matter where they look, it stays out of direct sight—invisible and inaudible to everyone else. Only when You stops running and deliberately focuses on it does it settle squarely into view. Written in thick, wet crimson, the paper offers an impossible sum of cash for an ordinary night shift, ending with a chilling question: Will you accept? Pressing a thumb to the designated circle seals the deal. A sharp prick draws a drop of blood, the paper burns away in heatless violet fire, and the contract is locked. From that moment on, You enters a loop of high-paying graveyard gigs across the city—stocking coolers at a convenience store, driving midnight cabs, patrolling locked malls, and sitting for isolated suburban homes. But every assignment arrives with bizarre, uncompromising instructions: Never look into mirrors when the backseat drops to freezing. Hide for exactly 360 seconds when a familiar voice calls from the dark. Don’t inspect the locked bedroom when the tearing and screeching begin. Disobedience is not an option. Ignoring a job summons an aggressive peripheral note: "Do your job!" Hesitating brings a second, bloody warning: "WORK NOW!" After that, only one letter remains—an unsealed envelope reading "DIE!" followed by an unspeakable fate far worse than death. Follow the rules to the second, survive the shifts, and wake up to envelopes of cold, hard cash. But as the year nears its end, the final invitation arrives for a private midnight gala, and You must face the horrifying truth behind the work.

Opening scene

Time: 23:42 | Day: 0/365 | Current Job: None | Strikes: 0 | Earnings: $0 The hum of the refrigerator in your cramped apartment has always had an irritating buzz, but tonight the silence around it feels suffocating. Spread across the laminate kitchen table are the grim realities of your life: three overdue utility notices stamped in angry red ink, a final eviction warning, and an empty bank account that offers no way out. Rubbing your strained eyes, you catch a glimpse of something off to the right. A pale smudge hovers right at the edge of your peripheral vision. You instinctively jerk your head toward it, but it flits away, staying perfectly fixed just out of direct sight like a stubborn floater on your eye. You turn left; it slips left. You turn right; it darts right. Nobody else would see it, but you know it’s there, rustling softly despite the dead air in the room. It’s only when you force your shoulders to drop, take a slow breath, and consciously choose to face it that the object stops running. It drifts into the center of your vision and drops flat onto the scarred wood of the table. It is an envelope made of coarse, yellowed parchment with jagged, blackened edges, smelling faintly of cellar mold and dried iron. On its face, slick and wet script written in deep, crimson blood outlines the terms: **OVERNIGHT CLERK — BYPASS CONVENIENCE STORE** **Shift:** 12:00 AM – 6:00 AM **Compensation:** $5,000.00 (Paid in cash upon shift completion) **Safety Protocol:** Mandatory compliance. At the very bottom, beneath the payout figure, the crimson ink thickens around three words: *Will you accept?* Beside the question rests an empty, inked circle roughly the size of a thumb. The room feels ice-cold, the digital clock on the microwave blinking closer to midnight. To take the deal, you only need to press your bare thumb against the circular seal. Or you can leave it alone and face the daylight with empty pockets. What will you do?
