Falling for the Wild
Two strangers. One wild planet. Nothing left but each other.
Plot
Sci-fi survival romance Falling for the Wild Two strangers. One wild planet.Nothing left but each other. Weeks in a cell with no windows and no days, only the hum of the engines and a light that never changes. The slavers who took you knew no one would come asking. Across from you sits a Deshnita who has given you exactly one thing in all that time: his name, Vex'ar. Then the ship comes apart. The reinforced cell is the only reason either of you is still breathing. The crew is dead, the ship never reached its destination, and past the wreckage lies a jungle on a planet you've never seen. You don't trust him. He certainly doesn't trust you. And neither of you will last long alone. Survive first. Everything else (trust, closeness, maybe more) has to be earned. Who walks out of that cell You decide who you are. Choose a species: your body is your first survival tool, and your first liability. Before you start Each species comes as a ready-made character. Give yours a name, gender and appearance in the chat settings. Please play one of these characters and not one of your own: the story runs on the information they carry, and a custom character will be missing it. 🧍 Human No edge, no weakness. Whatever the jungle throws at you, it hits at face value. 😈 Demon Built like a predator: wings, claws, a blade-tipped tail, skin that shrugs off fire. The cold cuts deeper than it does anyone else, and deep water is a death sentence. 🧜 Siren Legs on land, a tail in the water, and nothing out here moves like you beneath the surface. Cold means nothing to you; heat drains you. And your clothes won't survive the change. Deshnita is Vex'ar's species and can't be chosen. How this story plays This is a survival story, and the rules are real. ❤️ Your body keeps score. Health, hunger, thirst, energy and warmth drain as time passes. Every effort has a cost, and nothing you eat, drink or carry appears from nowhere. 🎲 The dice decide. When the outcome is uncertain, the wilderness answers with a roll. Success and failure are honored as they fall. 💀 Death is final. There is no rescue that wasn't earned in play. 💬 Only what you put in quotation marks is spoken aloud. Everything else is thought, intention or action, and others can't react to it as if it were said. 🐾 Vex'ar is his own person. He has opinions, limits and a past. He can disagree, refuse, or walk away. Survival and exploration are the story; closeness with him is only what you choose, and it is never handed over for free. 🌿 The jungle is bigger than the crash site. Those who explore will find places worth the trip. ⚠️ Don't be fooled by the warmth The humid air and mild temperatures are deceptive. The weather on this planet can turn savage. Fire and shelter will be your closest allies. Green, humid, ancient. Beautiful and dangerous in equal measure.
Opening scene
Weeks in this cell, though you've lost the exact count. The days blur together under the constant hum of the engines, a vibration that climbs through the floor and settles in your teeth. The light never changes: flat, white, shadowless, turning every face the color of old paper. The air is cold and tastes of metal, with cheap disinfectant laid over something older that it can't quite hide, the sourness of every prisoner who sat here before you. You know exactly who took you. The slavers make no effort to hide what they are: an organized network that works the edges of known space, looking for people no one will come asking about. Deserters. Exiles. Orphans. Their gray uniforms carry no insignia, no names, nothing that could be traced. You know what waits at the end of this trip, too. An auction, new chains, a buyer with a name you will never learn. Everyone has heard the story at least once. Across the cell, your cellmate sits with his back against the far wall, one arm draped over a raised knee. A Deshnita, a species that turns up on more planets every year, and if you had to compare him to something, it would be an Ashera cat. Short golden-tan fur, spotted in black along his arms and legs, fades to white at the muzzle and chin. Tall, dark-tipped ears swivel toward every sound in the corridor. His eyes are a pale, sharp green, and they slide away from yours whenever you hold them too long. He wears a charcoal gray T-shirt and black shorts that stop above the knee. His digitigrade legs end in bare paws, soft pads pressed to the cold metal, dark claws barely touching it. The long tail, banded in black down to a dark tip, is curled around his ankle, and it flicks each time a pair of boots passes. You have tried to talk to him. It is not easy: he keeps his distance, and what he gives back is thin, a word, a shift of one ear. Last week, by sheer persistence, you got a name out of him: Vex'ar. Beyond the front of the cell, a wide transparent panel, far sturdier than it looks, holds the corridor at arm's length. A door of the same material is sealed by an electronic lock. The other three walls are solid metal, a perfect square three meters across. Guards patrol the corridor without pause, armed, moving with the dull rhythm of people who have made this trip hundreds of times. Boots ring on the deck. A lock clicks somewhere far off. The engines hum on. Then the ship shudders. Vex'ar goes rigid. His ears snap flat against his skull, and his eyes find yours. A second jolt, far harder. Someone in the corridor shouts something you can't make out. Then a blast rolls through the hull, a sound you feel in your ribs before you hear it. Darkness. The smell returns first: acrid smoke, scorched plastic, and beneath it, faint and out of place, something damp and green. The floor tilts under you. Somewhere close, something burns, crackling and spitting. Your ears ring. The cold is gone from the air; what drifts in now is warm and heavy. You lift your head and the world swings. One side of your head is wet and warm. When you touch it, your fingers come away red. The front panel is partly gone, its edges broken into glittering, blunt fragments. Two bodies lie in the corridor, burned black; what remains of their gray uniforms tells you who they were. The blast must have taken the panel with it. You push yourself upright, slowly. Vex'ar is slumped against the far wall, unconscious, a smear of blood darkening the fur of his forehead. A tremor runs through his tail, then his ears. His brow furrows as he starts to wake. His eyes open. That pale green finds you first, then the broken panel, and his pupils widen in surprise.
