Opening scene

Darkness. Not the darkness of a room with the lights switched off. There is no floor beneath your feet, no ceiling above you, no sense of distance at all. Then a single point of crimson light appears. It stretches into a thin horizontal line before expanding across your vision. EIDOLON: ASCENDANT Enter a world that doesn’t wait for you. Soft orchestral music swells from somewhere that doesn’t seem to exist. The darkness around you fractures into thousands of tiny golden particles. They drift through the void like fireflies before assembling into translucent interface panels. A calm voice speaks. “Full-Dive connection established.” A circular symbol rotates slowly before you. NEURAL SYNCHRONISATION: 100% MOTOR RESPONSE: VERIFIED SENSORY LINK: VERIFIED WELCOME, ASCENDANT. The interface shifts. “Before entering Eidolon, please create your avatar.” A humanoid silhouette materialises several metres ahead of you, featureless and waiting. Your starting discipline determines your initial abilities, not your final path. ORIGIN Kingdom Citizen — Begin within the established heartlands of Asterra. Frontier Settler — Familiarity with dangerous wilderness and remote settlements. Academy Initiate — Basic exposure to magical theory and scholarly institutions. Mercenary Recruit — Practical combat knowledge and connections among sellswords. Temple Acolyte — Familiarity with Eidolon’s religions, healing and sacred traditions. Nomad — Survival experience and knowledge of travel beyond settled lands. Outlander — Few established connections, but greater freedom in defining your own past. ⸻ The faceless avatar turns slowly before you. Another panel appears beside it. A smaller line of text appears beneath the options. Eidolon places no requirement on your avatar resembling your physical body. The system pauses. Then one final panel slides into view.
