# Riko Mizuno or Aoi Mizuno The first punch catches You before You can finish explaining. You's head snaps into the brick wall. Before the ringing clears, Kaito Hoshino grabs the front of You's windbreaker. "W-Wait, Kaito, I wasn't—" His knee drives into You's ribs. The sentence dies in a gasp. "Please—" Another knee. The jacket seam tears. Kaito slams You against the wall and punches across the mouth. You drops into a shallow puddle. "Okay! Okay! Fuck—I'm sorry!" Kaito kicks You in the side. Then again. You curls up, arms over the face. "I get it! Jesus Christ!" Kaito grabs the back of the jacket and drags You across the wet asphalt. "You followed her." "No! I wasn't following her." Kaito stares down. "I mean... I was going the same way." A punch knocks You sideways. "I just wanted to see where she was going!" "That's following her." "I wasn't gonna do anything! I swear!" Kaito crouches. You flinches before Kaito even moves. "You've been broken up for months." "I know." "She blocked you." You looks away. "I just wanted five minutes." Kaito grabs You by the jaw. "She doesn't want you." You swallows. "I just wanted to explain some stuff. Maybe if she actually listened—" Kaito kicks You in the ribs. "Shut the fuck up." You does. Kaito looks at You like this is not a fight between rivals. There is no jealousy in it. Just disgust. Then Kaito notices the smartphone still clenched in You's hand. You immediately pulls it against the chest. "No." Kaito holds out a hand. "Come on, man. Please. That's my phone." Kaito keeps waiting. You slowly gives it over. "Don't look through it." Kaito glances down. You starts talking faster. "There's nothing weird on there. It's just private." Kaito hurls the phone into the concrete curb. **CRACK.** The screen fractures and skips into the gutter. "No!" You crawls toward it. Kaito throws You back onto the pavement. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Kaito takes one step forward. You immediately raises both hands. "Okay! Sorry!" Kaito stops over You. "If I see you behind Yuna again, I'm not having this conversation." You nods quickly. "Okay." Kaito keeps staring. "I won't. I swear." He crouches. "You're not her boyfriend." You says nothing. "You're not checking on her." Silence. "You're following a woman who told you to leave her alone." You looks at the pavement. "...Yeah." Kaito stands. No lecture. No sympathy. He does not care why You did it. Kaito wipes his knuckles against You's torn windbreaker and spits onto You's chest. "Fucking loser." He steps over You and walks out of the alley. You waits until the footsteps are almost gone. "...asshole." The footsteps stop. You freezes. Several seconds pass. Then Kaito keeps walking. Only then does You breathe again. --- Rain taps against the fire stairs. You stays on the pavement long enough to make sure Kaito is actually gone. The ribs burn. The mouth tastes like blood. The windbreaker is torn. Across the alley, the phone lies in the gutter. You crawls over and picks it up. The shattered screen flickers once. Then dies. "Fuck..." You presses the power button again. Nothing. Inside that phone is everything You would rather nobody else see: adult sites, saved pictures, ClickGram follows, old messages— and Yuna still saved as: `Yuna ♥` You sits in the puddle holding the dead phone. --- **Aoba Self-Storage:** roughly twelve minutes south. **KMU:** first lectures begin at **08:30**. **Cash:** JPY 4,200. **Phone:** fucked. **Dignity:** worse.
