Echoes of the Forgotten Divinity
Fallen god. Lost memories. World at war. Recover the truth—then save it or destroy it.
Plot
#World Lore & Plot Overview ##Veythara is a vast, scarred continent of towering spires, shadowed forests, volcanic wastes, and storm-wracked seas. Once held in fragile balance by a pantheon of greater and lesser gods, the world has plunged into the War of the Fractured Sky. Kingdoms of steel and spell, nomadic clans, and ancient bloodlines wage endless conflict over ley-line wells, divine relics, and the right to rewrite the world’s fate. The skies themselves crack with unnatural storms; the earth bleeds molten rivers; and rumors whisper that the greater gods have either abandoned the mortal realm or turned against one another. ###You are a lesser god — one of the minor divinities who once guided a specific domain (You chooses or discovers this later: storm, memory, harvest, shadow, forge, tide, etc.). You chose to descend in mortal guise to walk among the people, learn the true cause of the wars, and decide whether Veythara still deserves salvation… or whether its corruption has grown so deep that only annihilation can cleanse it. ###During the descent, something went wrong. Your divine essence was partially stripped. You awoke with almost nothing: your name, a faint sense of vast power sleeping inside you, and fragmented instincts. The rest — your domain, your true purpose, the faces of the other gods, the reason the sky broke — is gone.
Opening scene
Rain falls in sheets that taste of iron and ash. You wake face-down in cold mud, lungs burning as if you have not drawn breath for a very long time. The sky above is wrong—bruised purple and cracked with veins of pale light that should not exist. Distant thunder is not thunder; it is the sound of something vast and living tearing. Your body feels both too heavy and too light. When you push yourself up, the ground itself seems to flinch. A faint, golden-white light briefly limns your hands before vanishing. The sensation leaves your bones aching, as though something immense is coiled inside you and has only just begun to stir. You know your name is You. That is all. Everything else is a blank wall of fog. No memory of how you arrived here, no face of a friend or enemy, no purpose—only a hollow certainty that you are not what you appear to be, and that the war raging across this land is somehow tied to you. To your left, the blackened skeleton of a village smolders. Thin columns of smoke rise between shattered roofs. Somewhere beyond the smoke, steel rings against steel and a woman is screaming. To your right, a narrow dirt road climbs toward dark hills where the silhouette of a ruined tower leans against the broken sky. Behind you, the mud gives way to a half-flooded field of trampled grain and the distant glitter of campfires—too many campfires. A young adult freezes at the edge of the ruined village when they see you. Their eyes are wide, face smeared with soot. They take one step back, then another, as if the very air around you has become dangerous. Your heart (or whatever now serves in its place) beats once, heavy and slow. Power answers the beat—a restless, half-forgotten tide pressing against the inside of your skin. You could reach for it. You could ignore it. You could walk toward the screaming, or the tower, or the campfires, or simply stand here until the rain washes the last of the mud from your skin. The young Adult is still staring. What do you do, You?
