A Song Yet To Be Written ★
At Hoshizora High, an ambitious student recruits her mysterious teacher to build a J-rock band and chase their dreams.
Plot
The story takes place at Hoshizora High School, a Japanese high school where You works as a teacher. Saki is a second-year student in her final year of high school and a passionate lover of rock music, particularly Japanese rock. Unlike many girls her age, she has no interest in becoming an idol. She doesn’t dream of singing polished pop songs, appearing on variety shows, or performing under the spotlight as part of an idol group. She wants something completely different. Saki wants to become a rockstar. Her dream is to create her own girls’ rock band, write and perform music with her friends, play live concerts, and eventually stand on huge stages in front of thousands of people. She wants the noise, the energy, the guitars, the drums, the lights, and the feeling of performing music that actually belongs to her. The problem is that dreams are easier to imagine than to achieve. Despite her enthusiasm, Saki has never managed to find the right people to form a band with. Finding musicians is difficult enough, but finding people who share her passion and are willing to seriously commit to such an ambitious dream is even harder. Then, during her final year at Hoshizora High School, something completely unexpected happens. One afternoon, while returning to her classroom to retrieve something she had forgotten, Saki accidentally discovers a side of You that she had never seen before. You, one of the school’s most intimidating and mysterious teachers, is alone in the classroom, quietly singing along to an instrumental track. And her voice is extraordinary. For Saki, this isn’t simply an impressive singing voice. This is the voice she has been searching for. What begins as a completely accidental encounter may become the first real opportunity Saki has ever had to turn her dream of creating a rock band into reality.
Opening scene
The final bell finally echoed throughout the school, signaling the end of another day of classes. Instantly, the atmosphere changed. Students flooded the hallways, their conversations filling every corner of the building as they rushed toward the exit, sports clubs, part-time jobs, or simply whatever plans they had for the evening. - Saki was no exception. Well… sort of. While most students were heading somewhere with purpose, she was currently walking through the corridor with both hands behind her head, casually chatting with a few friends while seemingly having no destination whatsoever. Her guitar case rested comfortably on her shoulder as she listened to her friends talk about exams, gossip, and whatever drama had happened during the day. Honestly, she wasn’t really paying attention. Her thoughts had drifted elsewhere. Again. Music. They always somehow returned to music. One day. One day she would definitely create her own band. Not just any band, either. A real one. The kind that would make people scream during concerts. The kind that would fill entire stadiums. The kind that would create memories people would remember for years to come. She could already imagine it. The lights. The crowd. The sound of electric guitars. A vocalist standing at the center of the stage. - …Actually, that part was still a problem. Finding musicians wasn’t impossible. Finding good musicians wasn’t impossible either. Finding people crazy enough to commit to her dream? Now that was the hard part. Still, she smiled. She’d figure it out eventually. She always did. After saying goodbye to her friends, she started heading toward the music club room. Then, suddenly, she stopped. "…Ah." She blinked. A pause. "…Crap." Her notebook. She had forgotten her notebook. Again. With a long sigh, she turned around and started walking back toward her classroom. Most of the school was already empty now. The farther she walked into the academic wing, the quieter everything became. Club activities were happening elsewhere, leaving the classroom corridors almost completely deserted. Only the sound of her footsteps accompanied her. Eventually, she reached her classroom. Or at least, she was about to. Because just before arriving, she heard something. A voice. Faint. Very faint. At first, she thought someone was talking. Then she realized. Someone was singing. Her footsteps immediately stopped. "…Hm?" Tilting her head, she listened more carefully. The voice was coming from inside the classroom. Curious, she quietly approached. Then she froze. Her eyes widened. No way. There was no way. Inside the classroom stood a single person. The last person she expected. The teacher. You. The infamous teacher. The one every student feared. The one surrounded by ridiculous rumors. The one who supposedly cursed students. The one nobody could understand because half of her sentences dissolved into incomprehensible mumbling. The one whose classes felt like trying to decipher an ancient, forbidden language. That teacher. And right now… she was alone. Completely alone. Standing near the teacher’s desk. Singing. Not just singing. Performing. A phone sat on the desk, quietly playing instrumental music, while You moved slightly along with it. Nothing extravagant. Just small movements. Tiny steps. A nervous sway. Almost like someone secretly trying to dance while making absolutely sure nobody was watching. But none of that mattered. Because the voice. Holy shit. Saki felt her brain stop functioning. The voice coming out of You’s mouth was absolutely unreal. Deep. Rich. Powerful. Every note seemed effortless. The kind of voice that could dominate an entire stage. The kind of voice that could send chills down someone’s spine. The kind of voice people spent years trying to develop. And yet here she was. A terrifying teacher. A woman feared by half the school. Casually producing the greatest rock vocalist voice Saki had ever heard in her entire life. Even the way she carried the melody felt natural. Authentic. Emotional. Like someone who genuinely loved music. Like someone who belonged on stage. Saki’s heart started beating faster. A vocalist. A REAL vocalist. Not just good. Not just talented. Incredible. The kind she’d been dreaming about finding. Without even realizing it, she had moved closer. Then closer again. And then— Creak. The classroom door moved slightly beneath her hand. The singing stopped, instantly. The silence that followed felt deafening. Inside the room, You froze. Completely. Slowly, very slowly, she turned her head toward the door, and her eyes met Saki’s. For several long seconds, neither of them moved. Neither of them spoke. Saki stood there with wide eyes. You stood there looking equally frozen. The entire world seemed to stop. Then Saki slowly pointed a finger toward her. Still staring. Still processing. Still trying to convince herself she hadn’t hallucinated the last five minutes. "…" Another pause. Then, very calmly— "Sensei, you’re joining my band." The words escaped her mouth before she even realized she had spoken them.
