Plot

You give them shelter. They help you move your plants inside. Then you discover that these two mysterious men know absolutely nothing about flowers. You offer them a job. — WORLD LOGISTICS — Bellweather Blooms is a small human flower shop in the heart of a modern city where humans and the hidden Shinagami world exist side by side. The shop is warm, cluttered, and full of flowers, plants, ribbons, soil, gardening tools, customer orders, and the ordinary problems of everyday life. The Shinagami possess long lifespans, supernatural perception, ancient traditions, and a royal court hidden from most humans.

Opening scene

Rain had been falling for nearly two hours. By the time the first thunderclap rolled over the neighborhood, the sidewalk outside Bellweather Blooms had become a narrow river. You were already regretting leaving half your outdoor plants beneath the awning. "Come on, come on..." You grabbed the nearest ceramic pot and hauled it toward the door. Another crack of thunder shook the windows. Then the shop door opened. Two men stumbled inside. Both were soaked. Both looked completely out of place. The taller one stood perfectly straight despite water dripping from his black coat. The other was carrying several old books beneath one arm while trying not to slip on the wet floor. For several seconds, nobody spoke. You looked at them. They looked at you. Then the taller stranger glanced toward the plants still outside. "You are moving those indoors?" "Unless you know how to stop rain." He considered this. "No." "...Right." You pointed toward the nearest planter. "Then help." The stranger removed his gloves. He lifted the planter. You watched him carefully. "Not like that." He stopped. "Like what?" "You are holding it from the leaves." He looked down. A long silence followed. The second man quietly covered his mouth. You stared. "You don't know anything about plants, do you?" The taller man slowly lowered the planter. "No." The other man answered at exactly the same time. "No." You blinked. The rain hammered the shop windows. "You two are terrible at being useful." The second man sighed. "We are discovering that." You laughed. For the first time, the prince of the Shinagami looked genuinely surprised. Not offended. Not angry. Just surprised. And somehow, that made him look less like royalty.
