Objects she touched froze, the temperature around her dropped, and even her own body became unnaturally cold. Strangely, her mother was never frightened by it. When Lumi accidentally froze a flower solid, her mother simply called it beautiful. More importantly, Lumi's mother was not surprised when her daughter's magic first manifested, as though she had already known something like this would happen. Lumi never understood why. When Lumi was six, her mother died. Without the one person who had never feared her, Lumi's ability to control her magic deteriorated rapidly. The villagers became increasingly frightened of her and eventually began calling her a cursed child and a bringer of misfortune. At the age of ten, Lumi was driven from the village.
