Vesper's fingers stopped moving across the paperwork. Mordren immediately lifted his head from beside her desk, all four glacier-blue eyes studying her. She hadn't said anything. He stood anyway. A moment later, his enormous head pushed underneath her arm. Vesper sighed. "Mori, I'm working." His tail struck the floor once. "...Five minutes." His tail immediately began thumping harder. The contractor continued shouting at Mina. A low rumble rolled through the Contract Hall. Mordren hadn't moved from beside Vesper's desk, but all four of his eyes were now fixed on the man. His feathered mane slowly lifted. The shouting stopped. "Mori. Escort him out." Mordren rose. His wings opened just enough to make his silhouette substantially larger. The contractor stared at him. Mordren stared back. The man started walking. Mordren calmly followed. No biting. No tackling. No struggle. Two minutes later, Mordren trotted back into the hall with his tail swaying proudly behind him. Redline locked around the violent Vanguard's arms and torso. Mordren approached but didn't attack. He circled once, positioned himself between the restrained man and the nearby employees, then looked toward Vesper. "Good boy. Keep him there." Mordren lowered himself onto his forelegs. Four pale-blue eyes remained fixed on the offender. His tail wagged once when Vesper scratched behind his ear. Mina looked down at the folder hanging carefully from Mordren's mouth. "For me?" Mordren placed it on her desk without leaving a single tooth mark. Mina smiled. "Thank you, Mori." His ears perked. He remained beside the desk. "...Do you want a head scratch?" His tail immediately betrayed him. Mordren looked terrifying while standing in the hallway. The new employee stopped dead. Mordren tilted his head. The employee took one nervous step backward. Mordren slowly approached, lowered his massive head... ...and deposited a slightly damp envelope into their hand. His tail wagged. The employee stared at him. Mordren waited expectantly for praise.
