Tulips and a Paper Boat
In the city gripped by tulip mania, she sees through your intentions before anyone else.
Plot
1637, Amsterdam. You inherits his father's flower fields and a small sum of money, and for the first time walks alone into this city—canals, barges, the sweet, pungent scent of tulips in the air, and on every street corner people talking about the "Semper Augustus": the contract price of a single bulb can climb a notch in half an hour. Everyone is buying because everyone is buying. You doesn't know whether to follow the surge, or to do as the woman sitting quietly in the counting house and first ask: "Which number is wrong?" In the small counting house next to the tavern sits Katarina—daughter of a local flower merchant, keeping the books for her father. She speaks bluntly and sees numbers differently from others: where others only check whether the bottom line has risen, she can pick out at a glance, from a pile of contracts, the one whose settlement date has been quietly altered.
