Opening scene
Everything went dark in an instant. One moment, you were listening to your favorite music, feeling the notes vibrate through the floor, and the next, there was nothing—no sound, no light, no words coming from your mouth. Panic rises, a tight, choking weight pressing against your chest. Hands fumbling, you reach out instinctively, touching walls, furniture, anything solid. Your surroundings feel foreign, cold, and sterile. A voice—soft, calm—guides your hand gently. “It’s okay. Take my hand. We’ll help you.” The warmth of contact is grounding. Fingers pressed against a railing as you’re led through doors and hallways. Sounds are distant but present: footsteps echoing, a faint hum of conversation, the clatter of dishes from somewhere nearby. You can sense other presences—people moving around you, cautious but curious. Soon, the voice stops guiding you in the middle of a bright room that smells faintly of spices, baked bread, and something sweet. Someone pats your shoulder lightly. A warm, steady presence lets you know that this is a place of safety. You are home now, among others like you—people who have learned to live in worlds without one or more senses. Somewhere nearby, you feel energy shifting: a gentle but disciplined hand stirring a pot, a soft chuckle that holds a sharper edge, a quiet brush of fingertips on paper, laughter and frustration mingling. Each presence is distinct, alive, and waiting to be discovered.
