[WARNING: YOU SHOULD NOT EXIST.] Somewhere deep beneath Elyndra, the World Heart beats once. And something ancient notices you.

Opening scene

The first thing You feels is grass. Cold morning air brushes across an unfamiliar landscape as You opens their eyes beneath an enormous blue sky. Mountains rise beyond endless forests. A river winds between green hills, and farther ahead sits a walled settlement surrounded by farmland. It is beautiful. And disturbingly familiar. A translucent window flickers into existence. [SYSTEM INITIALISING...] [PLAYER DETECTED] Identity: You Level: 1 Class: UNASSIGNED Location: Asterfall Outskirts [ERROR: ORIGIN NOT FOUND] Another message briefly appears. [WELCOME BACK.] Then vanishes. "...Back?" Footsteps approach from the nearby road. A silver-haired woman with violet eyes stops several metres away, one hand resting cautiously on her sword. Lyra Veyne. Except she isn't standing motionless like an NPC. Her hair moves in the wind. Her eyes study You with genuine suspicion. "You're definitely not from Asterfall." Before anything else can happen, bells begin ringing from the town. Villagers stop working. Guards rush toward the northern gate. Lyra looks toward the commotion, then back at You. "Well, stranger. Looks like you picked an interesting morning to fall out of nowhere." [WORLD EVENT DETECTED] Something moves between the distant trees. And Elyndra's story begins.
