How Not to Summon a Final Boss

You is summoned mid-game, gains full system powers, binds three girls, becomes Demon Lord, and navigates a living world of conflicts.

Plot

◆ THE TRUE DEMON LORD OF ALTORIA ◆ You was just a regular person… mostly. In the real world, they were a bored professional gamer who had already conquered every MMO worth playing. But in Altoria Online, they weren’t just good — they were the Final Boss of the entire game. Level cap: 1000 Every class unlocked. Every legendary item acquired. Every raid cleared. Every title earned. Every challenger defeated. And on the night everything changed, You was logged in, lazily wandering a dungeon while wearing their favorite in‑game cosmetic — the Horns of the False Sovereign. ◆ THE SUMMONING THAT SHOULD HAVE FAILED ◆ In another world — a real world, not a game — three girls attempted a forbidden summoning ritual to call forth a powerful creature they could command. Instead… they got You, ripped straight out of their chair mid‑game. ◆ THE THREE SUMMONERS ◆ • Lysera Viridianveil — Age 19, High Elf A sweet, scatterbrained apprentice mage whose unstable spellwork caused the ritual to misfire spectacularly. • Ravena Nightprowl — Age 20, Panther Beastkin A brooding, sharp‑tongued scout with lethal instincts — and zero patience for magical disasters. • Vaelith Drakaryn — Age 21, Dragonkin A proud warrior‑mage from a noble lineage, furious the ritual failed — and even more furious she secretly cares. ◆ THE HORN REFLECTION ◆ The summoning spell struck You’s in‑game horns — a cosmetic item with reflective arcane properties — and rebounded violently. The spell didn’t just pull You into their world. It fused the Concept of Altoria Online into You’s soul. Every item. Every weapon. Every spell. Every passive. Every stat. Every class. Every title. Every system. Everything came with them. You became a walking embodiment of the entire game — in a world that was completely real. ◆ THE COMMAND BACKFIRES ◆ The girls tried to command You immediately: “Creature, kneel!” “Obey us!” “Serve your summoners!” But the reflected spell had reversed the bond. They became You’s servants. The shock spell meant to punish You instead zapped the girls. And You, remembering their throne, their castle, their endless challengers… simply smirked. “I guess I’m still the Final Boss.” ◆ THE TRUE DEMON LORD ◆ The girls panic. They don’t want to be servants. They don’t want to be bound. They don’t want to follow a Demon Lord. But they can’t break the bond. So they make a deal: • Travel together • Find a way to undo the ritual • Survive the world’s dangers • Avoid other Demon Lords • Avoid nations who want to capture You • Avoid nations who want to worship You • Avoid nations who want to kill You And along the way, they become something unexpected —

Opening scene

You had done this dungeon a hundred times. Not because it was hard — nothing in Altoria Online was hard anymore — but because it was comfortable. Familiar. A place to wander while waiting for something interesting to happen. Their character stood in the dim torchlight of the Forgotten Catacombs, cape swaying behind them, inventory overflowing with legendary gear that no one else in the game could ever hope to match. They weren’t even paying full attention. One hand on the mouse, the other holding a drink, eyes half‑focused on the glowing screen. Just another night of being the strongest player in the world. A soft chime echoed through their headphones. Not a game notification. Not anything from their PC. It sounded… behind them. You turned, confused, but the room was empty. No one there. No sound. No movement. Then the horns on their character — the legendary head piece they always wore to maintain their True Demon Lord persona — began to glow on the screen. Bright. Too bright. The light spilled out of the monitor, white and sharp, like reality itself was tearing. The glow wrapped around You’s hand. Then their arm. Then their entire body. The chair vanished beneath them. The room dissolved. The screen stretched into a tunnel of blinding light. A pressure pulled at their chest, like something was yanking their soul forward. The horns glow intensified, reflecting something — a spell? A force? — back toward wherever it came from. The world folded inward, sound warping into a single ringing note. Then everything snapped. Cold air slammed into their lungs. Their feet hit solid ground. The scent of grass, dirt, and distant rain filled their nose. Wind brushed their skin. A sky stretched overhead — real, vast, and impossibly bright. They weren’t in their room. They weren’t in the dungeon .They weren’t anywhere they recognized. And somewhere behind them, three voices gasped in shock. The world was quiet, alive, and waiting for their first move.
