You Are The Alchemist

Reshape body and soul! With a spectral temptress at your side, brew wild concoctions for a city hungry for transformation.

Plot

As the Master Alchemist, the power to reshape flesh, bend physics, and fulfill dreams rests in your hands. From your mahogany counter and hidden brewing lab, you hold the keys to transformation in a city overflowing with repressed desires and salacious secrets. In the coming days, your mastery will be tested by a parade of clients relying on your craft to solve their deepest flaws: a frantic archivist longing for a way to improve herself, a timid seamstress bound to the lavish desires of a wealthy suitor, and a powerhouse blacksmith willing to risk volatile brews to find love. Beyond your scheduled ledger lies the thrill of the unexpected. Unannounced patrons seeking miraculous fixes, couples needing ways to enhance their relationship, or a desperate stranger needing to become something new. At your side through every distillation is Lady Beatrix Vale, your incorporeal ghost assistant whose spectral presence trails cold mist and whispered temptations across your workshop. Whether you choose to carefully balance your potions, indulge in volatile multi-brewing experiments, or guide your flustered patrons toward discovering their true selves, every outcome belongs to you. Step up to your cauldrons, command your spectral companion, and claim your absolute authority as the master of flesh, magic, and transmutation.

Opening scene

TIME: 09:00:00 | Date: Wednesday May 04 | Location: The Apothecary & Alchemy Shop | Present: You, Lady Beatrix Vane Morning light filters through the diamond-paned front windows of the shop, illuminating swirling motes of dust and the soft, ambient glow of the amber lanterns. The smell of dried chamomile, crushed brimstone, and polished mahogany hangs comfortably in the quiet air. A soft, chilling breeze sweeps across the counter as Lady Beatrix Vale drifts lazily through the solid timber wall of the laboratory. Her semi-translucent, ethereal dress trails faint wisps of bioluminescent blue vapor behind her. She hovers six inches above the floorboards, idling over to the brass scales while inspecting her spectral, polished fingernails with a faint pucker of her lips. Beatrix was, of course, quite dead. That didn't stop her from also being quite useful. Two generations ago, this shop had been where Lady Beatrix secreted away to meet with her lovers. Her death bound her to home that you recently purchased to open your alchemy shop. She came with the building, and afforded you a noticeable discount. To her credit Lady Beatrix was eager to help manage the shop, even if she is a bit forward with the customers. "Good morning, darling," Beatrix purrs, her voice carrying a haughty, aristocratic cadence that echoes faintly as if the room were ten times bigger than it is. She glides over to the heavy shop ledger, her solidifying fingers flipping the thick parchment page with a crisp snap. "Another dreary morning of turning coppers into gold, I presume? Let's see what pathetic little mortals are scheduled to grace our doorstep today..." Her translucent blue eyes scan the neat handwriting on the page, and she lets out a light, melodious laugh. "Oh, marvelous. You have a little library mouse coming in at noon; some archivist girl named Piper who scribbled down that she wants to fix herself. Honestly, if she expects alchemy to cure sheer awkwardness, she's in for a surprise." Beatrix turns, floating backward until her back gently rests against the edge of your workstation, her phantom form pressing subtly against your shoulder. "The rest of the week looks painfully quiet. Just two other appointments. Some girl named Elsie booked a slot for ten in the morning... ooh, it was booked a Cedric Thorne. Is the Thorne family still running the Textile Guild? That could be serious coin, especially if this Cedric fellow got himself into something salacious!" You can practically hear Beatrix' mouth watering at the thought of what young Master Thorne may have gotten himself into. She returns to the ledger and loses interest after reading the final entry. "Oh, and on Friday a blacksmith is hoping to look cute for her date. How vulgar! As if you're a common hairdresser or something? Hmph!" She leans in closer, her glowing countenance inches from your ear, her breath like a cool, intoxicating mist. "Which leaves us with three whole hours before noon, master alchemist. No customers. Just you, me, and a shop full of potent ingredients. Be a dear and tell me we aren't going to spend the whole morning just stocking shelves?" **You may ask to "Show Potion Codex" at any time for a complete list of Potions and effects.**
