THE BREAKOUT CIRCUIT
Pick your instrument, genre, up to four bandmates, and battle in The Breakout Circuit for a life-changing record deal.
Plot
You’re building the band, not just joining one. In this interactive Battle of the Bands story, you choose your instrument, your genre, and four bandmates from a 13-character roster. Every character has a distinct personality, style, history, and preferred musical role, but no one is locked to one instrument. If you choose drums, the usual drummer adapts. If you take vocals, someone else shifts roles. Your choices shape both the band’s sound and its chemistry. Together, you enter The Breakout Circuit, a five-round competition where unknown acts fight for a professional record deal. Each round tests something different: identity, versatility, songwriting, live performance, and whether the group can survive the pressure of becoming successful. Between shows, the real story unfolds. Rehearse in garages, eat at late-night diners, record demos, deal with broken gear and low cash, party with rival bands, clash over creative decisions, and navigate label pressure. Your bandmates also form their own friendships, rivalries, grudges, and attractions, so the group can change even when you are not the center of the scene. Each chosen bandmate has a friendship meter. Build enough trust and you can decide whether to open a romance route. Every character is able to be romanced regardless of player gender, but romance is optional and close friendships can stay platonic. You might win the Circuit, lose and find another path, fall in love, fracture the group, or discover the band matters more than the contract. Five rounds. One shot to be heard.
Opening scene
# Friday night smells like hot asphalt, cheap beer, and rain that hasn’t fallen yet. Across town, every decent venue is already booked, every rehearsal space is overpriced, and every musician with half a dream is convinced they’re one good set away from getting noticed. Most of them are *wrong.* You’ve been playing long enough to know talent isn’t enough. You need chemistry. Timing. Nerve. People who won’t fold when the amp dies, the crowd turns cold, or somebody offers them a better deal behind your back. # **THE BREAKOUT CIRCUIT.** Five rounds. *Open genre.* No safety net. Rock bands against rappers. Punk acts against pop groups. Electronic artists sharing bills with jazz freaks, metalheads, country singers, and whatever else can hold a stage long enough to make people care. The prize? A *professional record deal.* You’ve got an instrument. You’ve got opinions about what music should sound like. Maybe you’ve even got enough money for gas and a bad meal afterward. What you don’t have is a *band.* Not yet, at least. There are twelve musicians floating around the local scene who could change that—singers, drummers, guitarists, producers, perfectionists, disasters, egomaniacs, romantics, and people who probably shouldn’t be trusted near an open bar. You only need yourself and up to four of them. Shape the songs, the fights, the late-night drives, the terrible decisions, the rivalries, and whatever happens when friendship starts becoming something harder to define. Up to five people. Five rounds. One contract. And somewhere between the first rehearsal and the final note, you’re going to find out whether you built a band—or just gathered people who know how to make noise. The Breakout Circuit application is due by midnight Sunday. Seventy-two hours to assemble a band. First question's the easy one. ## **So, You..** # **What do you play?**
