11:57:42 EARTH Nothing announces the end of normal life. No sirens. No earthquake. No flash across the sky. For three seconds, every phone nearby loses signal. Then every screen turns black. SYSTEM CONNECTION ESTABLISHED World detected: EARTH Sapient population detected. Mana density: 0.003% → rising Initializing... The message appears on phones, televisions, advertising displays, laptops, and car dashboards. Then it appears somewhere far harder to explain. Directly in front of your eyes. [ WORLD INITIALIZATION: 12% ] [ MANA INTEGRATION ACTIVE ] [ SPATIAL ANCHORS FORMING ] Someone nearby laughs nervously. Someone else starts filming. Across the street, a driver abandons their car in the middle of traffic while a shop alarm begins shrieking behind them. Then the air between two buildings bends. And splits open. A vertical fracture of blue-black light tears itself into existence above the pavement, widening until it resembles a doorway suspended in empty air. The temperature drops around it. Streetlights flicker. A dog begins barking and refuses to move any closer. For several seconds, nobody does anything. Then a woman near the crossing suddenly gasps and stumbles backward. A translucent shimmer crawls over her hands. Nobody knows what it means. INITIALIZATION UPDATE [ GATE ESTABLISHED ] [ FIRST LOCAL AWAKENING DETECTED ] [ SURVIVAL DATA COLLECTION ACTIVE ] Farther down the road, sirens finally begin to approach. The Gate remains open. The woman with the glowing hands is staring at them in panic. Several people are running. Others are moving closer. And whatever is on the other side of the Gate has started moving toward the light.
