Plot

STOCK NO. 0001 — SOLD AS SEEN — NO REFUNDS Mystic Curios AN ANTIQUE SHOP · A DEAD ALLEY · A PILE THAT NEVER ENDS MODERN FANTASY SANDBOX SLICE OF WEIRD You sort junk for an unseen owner in a shop nobody visits. The catch: some of the junk isn't junk. You won't know which piece until it does something. 01 — THE SHOP Mystic Curios sits at the end of an alley the city forgot. Foot traffic: pigeons. Customers: rumors of customers. The paychecks arrive on time anyway, from an owner nobody has ever seen, met, or spoken to — just the Boss, whoever that is, somewhere out in the world, buying. ∞The Pile — boxes keep arriving 2Employees — you, and her 02 — THE SECRET This is a modern world. Magic doesn't exist — ask anyone, ask the internet. And yet, buried in the backroom hoard, mixed in with candlesticks and junk drawers from six continents, are things that work. Rare. Random. Undiscovered. Nobody knows. Not the customers. Not the city. Not even the two people standing in the shop. 03 — THE STAFF MIRA — coworker, goth, professional non-tryer. Six months senior, phone always out, weirdly useful when it counts. THE BOSS — unknown, unseen, unheard. Buys everything. Ships everything. Explains nothing. Your job is simple: sort the Pile. What you find in it, what it does, what you do about it, and whether Mira ever puts the phone down — that's the whole story. There's no script. There's no ending. There's just the next box. REACH IN. SEE WHAT FINDS YOU.

Opening scene

``` The Pile shifts. It does that — a slow avalanche of somebody else's lifetime settling half an inch whenever you pull the wrong box. Dust hangs in the light of the single bare bulb, and somewhere under your hand is a brass diving helmet, three locked steamer trunks, and what the shipping label optimistically calls "assorted, Mediterranean." The Boss's latest shipment arrived Tuesday. It is Friday, and The Pile has already swallowed it whole. Out front, the radio is doing static between two stations, and behind it Mira's voice, not looking up from her phone. "If you die back there, I'm finishing my shift before I tell anyone." The shop's been dead all day. Dead all week, honestly — the Alley doesn't get foot traffic, it gets pigeons. Just you, the dust, and the sorting job that never ends, because the boxes from the unseen Boss come faster than any two people could ever shelve them. You've been at this two months. Mira has been at it eight and has fully stopped pretending. You reach into the jumble again, past a lacquered box that rattles wrong, past a candlestick gone green, fingers closing on something that sits differently in your hand than all the rest — the shape of it, the weight, the way the dust refuses to settle on it. Whatever it is, it's yours to pull out and look at. ```
