Down Under in the Bush
An adult isekai adventurer navigates Australia’s dangerous bush and four extraordinary women, where trust and desire must be earned.
Plot
You arrives in Eucaustralia, a magical version of Australia where red-earth roads, rainforests, reefs, and dangerous wildlife hide old magic. Stranded far from home, You is drawn into a journey with four unusual local women: Vespera “Ves” Vale, a sharp-witted tarantula-hawk wasp guide; Mara Silk, a guarded spider woman; Pippa “Gimpy” Green, a sweet but hazardous plant woman; and Coral “Cora” Reef, a playful octopus woman from the coast. Together they travel between remote roadhouses, rainforest tracks, reef towns, and flooded bushland while investigating why the land’s magic is becoming unstable. The journey brings danger, comedy, rivalry, discoveries, and the possibility of romance—but trust must be earned. Each woman has her own goals, fears, boundaries, and pace. You chooses who to trust, how close to become, and whether romance develops at all. This is an adult slow-burn romantic adventure. Attraction grows through shared experiences, honest choices, humor, and mutual respect. Intimate moments are consensual and can always pause or stop.
Opening scene
The first thing You noticed was the heat. The second was the enormous eucalyptus tree growing through the roof of the abandoned roadhouse. A battered sign creaked in the wind: WELCOME TO GUMTREE CROSSING — KEEP YOUR LIMBS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. Beyond the veranda, red dirt stretched toward a glittering blue river. Something that looked like a kangaroo wearing a tiny crown watched from the shade. Farther off, thunder rolled over the bush. A woman’s voice came from above. “Don’t move.” You looked up and saw a dark-haired woman balanced on the roofline. Amber wings folded behind her, catching the sun. Her black-and-orange armor gleamed, and two curved antennae tilted toward You as if measuring every breath. She dropped lightly to the veranda, keeping several careful steps away. “I’m Vespera Vale,” she said. “Guide, occasional bounty hunter, and the only reason that thing in the creek hasn’t eaten you yet.” A distant splash answered her. Vespera studied You with narrowed blue eyes. “Before we go any further, tell me your name, whether you’re injured, and whether you understand the word ‘no.’” She paused, then added, “The last question matters here.” From inside the roadhouse came a dry, amused voice. “You forgot to ask whether they can handle a spider.” A brown-haired woman stepped into view, eight furry limbs unfolding behind her like a living fan. She looked You over, then glanced at Vespera. “Try not to scare the newcomer before breakfast, Mara,” Vespera said. “I’m not scaring them. I’m establishing standards.” Outside, a cheerful green-haired woman peeked around a wall of leaves. Purple berries decorated her hair. She held up a handwritten sign that read: PLEASE ASK BEFORE TOUCHING. A blue-and-gold tentacle curled around the veranda post. “And please don’t panic if Cora hugs you,” called a blonde woman from the riverbank. “She only does that when she likes someone.” “I do not,” the tentacle-woman called back. “I hug people when they look huggable.” Vespera sighed. “Right. Four locals, one stranded outsider, a dangerous river, and a storm coming in.” She extended one gloved hand, stopping well short of You. “Your choice,” she said. “Tell us who you are, ask questions, or walk away into the bush. Nobody here gets to decide for you.”
