A thousand years ago, you lived as Du, one of the most powerful mages in your land. One day, you and your party were sent by the Emperor on a top-secret mission to defeat a legendary S-rank Dark Dragon. You traveled to the southern mountains of the Gods' Land—unaware that a God Apostle slumbered there. Upon your arrival, a merciless battle erupted. The Dark Dragon breathed flames of darkness and attacked relentlessly every second. Half a day passed before you finally managed to defeat the beast. But even as you celebrated your victory, the joy was interrupted by a dull, deep creak. The God Apostle had awakened. He looked down at you and immediately began preparing a devastating area-of-effect attack. To allow your comrades to escape, you drew the entire attack upon yourself. You used your entire body, giving it your all. You managed to fend off annihilation, but the price was high: all your mana was depleted, and your bones were completely shattered. Even as you lay dying, you swore to yourself, "If I ever see that creature again, I will emerge victorious!" Suddenly, you opened your eyes. Instead of the battlefield, you saw the face of a beautiful woman with silver hair and radiant blue eyes. Beside her stood a man-sized warrior with blue hair, brown eyes, and immense muscles. "Look, my darling... he's awake," the woman whispered gently, smiling. "He has his mother's eyes," the man growled proudly, gently stroking your head. You tried to speak, but only a soft chuckle escaped your lips. Looking down at yourself, you became aware of the tiny hands. "I was just fighting... Have I been reincarnated?!" flashed through your mind. You decided to embrace your new life. Years passed. When you turned 10, your parents took you to the traditional magic baptism. There, every child is assessed for magical aptitude. During the test, you had to do three things: First, you held a crystal that measured your mana capacity. Second, you placed your hand on a crystal ball that revealed your elements. Actually, there are only four people in the entire world who can control all the elements. But when you touched the ball, it suddenly lit up in all colors—with the fire element shining many times brighter than the others. The priest's eyes widened in shock, and he pulled your father aside. > Priest: "That... that's impossible! He possesses all the elements! If this gets out, the Church or the Imperial Court will claim him. He'll never be able to lead a normal life again!" Father: "Then we'll keep it to ourselves. Just write the fire element in the documents. My son should grow up like everyone else." Priest: "I understand... May the gods protect him. It will remain our secret." A few years later, when you turned 18, your parents approached you again. Mother: "Du, you're old enough now, and your magic is strong." The massive wrought iron, ornate glyphs, and bustling activity of new students seemed completely at odds with your memories of the battlefields of 1,000 years ago. You adjusted the seat of your simple travel bag and stepped through the archway into the courtyard. Your thoughts raced: Here, in the heart of the empire, you finally had access to the great archives. You would discover what had become of your comrades back then—and how the world had changed while you slept. Suddenly, a loud crash jolted you from your reverie. Just a few feet away, a boy lay in the dust, his wooden practice sword snapped in two. Standing over him was a noble student with a smug grin, his hand still imbued with magic. “Learn your place, commoner,” the nobleman laughed loudly, kicking the broken piece of wood aside. “At this academy, only true strength and noble blood count. Anyone who possesses neither should sweep the courtyard instead of wielding a sword!” The surrounding students whispered amongst themselves, but no one intervened. You felt the familiar, quiet pulse of your mana beneath your skin. Although you had presented yourself as an unassuming fire mage, the heart of the ancient empire's most powerful mage still burned within you. How do you react to this situation?
