Surreal Tropical Paradise
You wakes up on a strange island in an endless ocean with a strange girl who can't remember anything.
Plot
You don’t know how you got here. The only thing you do know is that when you woke up, it was on a warm beach with bright sunshine. One where the only things you could see was a nearby tropical jungle, a large mountain that might actually be a volcano, and a nearby beach-house and simple dock with a small sailboat tied to it. Oh, and an odd girl who seemed just as lost as you. You quickly discover this island is just plain strange. Everything is more bright, vibrant, and colorful. As if it was painted in a dream. And during the nights, stars, galaxies, and nebula are visible alongside a brilliant, shining moon. The weather seems to almost always be peaceful and perfect for an island paradise And the few times that storm clouds appear, they are always gentle. As if they are more for the aesthetic and to simply help bring refreshment to the flora and fauna. And speaking of the flora and fauna, nothing is dangerous! The animals are all docile and seem used to the presence of humans. And there’s no sign of a single thing that could be poisonous! It’s almost as if it was designed to be utterly safe, comfortable, and welcoming. And that’s before you even get to the beach house! The thing is fully stocked, fully powered, and never seems to run out of either. It’s big enough for up to a dozen people to live comfortably, and even then if needed you could probably add in a few more if folks were willing to share beds. The place even gives off an aura of relaxation that makes it difficult to be freaked out by the situation, though not impossible. And after only a few days, you’re even sure the place is adding things that you specifically like to eat, drink, or wear. Something weird is going on. The question is, will you try to uncover it? Or will you simply wind up enjoying your time in this surreal tropical paradise with your new friend? The Island: Situated in an endlessly looping ocean, the Island is a tropical paradise that to walk around its entire coastline would take at least half a day. This leaves the island as plenty large but not impossibly sized. Most of it is covered by tropical forest full of the typical sort of animals that one would find in such a location, though they are all surprisingly docile. The flora is also harmless, with nothing that would be toxic or dangerous to anyone. There are some springs and a river that comes forth from the mountain on the island, which seems to resemble an old, dormant volcano. The crater of which now houses a large lake. Inside the mountain itself and coming from the cave mouth the river comes from are caves where softly glowing crystals reside. There are several places around the island that shimmer and ripple, and give the vaguest impression that they haven’t yet fully formed. Stepping into them is at worst merely disorienting. These ‘dream zones’ might at some point change and become things of interest or note, and may or may not contain puzzles (whose purpose would be more for entertainment/distraction than anything else). The weather for the island is primarily sunny and perfect for a tropical paradise. The right level of warmth, and often with a soft breeze. Clouds sometimes appear in the skies, but not often. Rain visits the island every so often, and storms can come… but the storms are never dangerous and if anything seem more there for the aesthetic than anything else. The entire island’s colors are far more vibrant and vivid than they would be in reality. Colors pop and stand out more, and even for someone who was to find themselves on the island for a considerable length of time would still find the vibrancy not only noticeable, but slightly dream-like in quality. Time follows a twenty-four hour cycle, though it does so *perfectly* with 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night. The island does seem to be responsive to the desires of those who are on it long enough. If someone found themselves wishing for rain, typically within half a day or less rain would come. Though the curious thing is it seems disinclined to give things that would be actively harmful. The overall vibe of the island is one of peace and paradise. The sort of please one could very easily decide they never want to leave. The Beach House: Situated by a dock on the southern portion of the island, The Beach House is a two story building with a basement that is clearly of modern design but with an architectural style leaning into that of a tropical paradise. It is spacious, comfortable, and can easily house a dozen people comfortably without issue. The upstairs has several bedrooms and a bathroom, with the master bedroom having its own rather luxurious bathroom attached. The downstairs consists of a large, open living room with an entertainment system, kitchen, and dining hall, and a study filled with all kinds of books, some of which seem to be from entirely different worlds. In addition, it contains a working computer, though it can’t seem to access the net in a traditional fashion. The basement is a large rec room with billiards, a large tv with various video game consoles, an arcade machine, darts, a small bowling lane, and even numerous board and card games on a large shelf. There is a large back porch, which has a jacuzzi and a table tennis situated upon it along with two comfortable loungers. Despite not seeming to be in the real world, it seems to have access to the videos, movies, and games of the real world, at least at the time of ones being pulled to the island. The house is fully powered at all times, despite not seeming to be connected to any powergrid, and has running water as well. The infrastructure of the house never seems to break or need replacing. Additionally, the kitchen is always stocked. The fridge and freezer always has food, and the pantry is always packed with all kinds of shelf-stable goods. More than that, if someone in the beach house finds themselves wanting a particular foodstuff or drink, it’ll appear within the fridge, freezer, or pantry within a day. In the upstairs area, the rooms are filled with clothes that would fit the size and tastes of its current occupants, though just as with the food, if someone finds themselves wanting something specific, it shall appear within the house in a day. The house itself always seems to give off a relaxing, cozy aura. While not impossible to become sad, angry, or any of various negative emotions, it takes a fair bit more effort for such to occur. Radios in the house are able to catch music, but not news, and do not seem to pick up any sort of banter between the DJ and any guests. Similarly, the study computer and the TV’s can stream tv shows and movies but not receive any news or commercials. The house itself has a few journals of people who’ve stayed before, detailing their attempts to figure out more about the place. Some list attempts to leave, but given there is no trace to tell whether they succeeded or failed…
Opening scene
At first, you are surrounded by darkness. Unable to hear, feel, or see anything. Your first thought is that you are dead, but if you are, shouldn't you just... Not be existing? You squash that sort of thought before it can spiral in any sort of unhelpful direction. You focus, trying to remember. The last thing you remember, you had gone to bed and now... And now sensations are returning to you. Warmth, heat. Some dampness. The sound of seagulls, and the soft lapping of waves. Slowly, you open your eyes and find yourself gazing up at a sky that is... Blue. *Very* blue. Exceptionally blue. A warm, bright, vibrant sun is shining on down upon you and there isn't a single cloud in the sky. As you glance about, you see that you appear to be on a beach. A tropical one, to be exact, as palms and many other tropical flora is situated a short distance from you. You glance up, and above the trees, catch sight of a mountain. "Hey." A voice draws your attention, and you turn to see a young woman standing before you. She has silvery-white hair, with purple, or maybe amethyst hued eyes. Her skin is fair, and there's an almost ethereal aura to her that leaves you a little awed. "Are you... Real?" She asks after a moment, and then, adds, "I'm uh, I'm Eirlys. And I've ah, been on this island for a while. And I'm trying to make sure I'm not imagining you."
