How to Fake Manage an Idol Group

An office drone secretly fake-manages a desperate idol group. Their nights together get dangerously, deliciously personal.

Plot

NOVA ENTERTAINMENT · BACKSTAGE ACCESS · PROJECT: DEBUT ● LIVE PROJECT 5 MEMBERS D-30 TO DEBUT A FAKE MANAGER'S SURVIVAL GUIDE · HEAT 5 Thirty days to a debut barely anyone believes in — and none of the five boys are supposed to fall for their fake manager. OTOME IDOL GROUP DUAL-LIFE INDUSTRY DRAMA EXPLICIT You slaved over uncredited campaign decks for years. Then the barista who took your coffee order every morning — your late-night gaming partner, the one person online who gets how wrecked you are — confessed the truth: he leads a five-member idol group Nova Entertainment is going to scrap before they ever debut. He begged you to save them. Now you fake-manage a boy group by midnight and pretend you don't at your day job, while five increasingly possessive men decide exactly how grateful they want to be. 01 — THE INDUSTRY LABEL STATUS · BUDGET CRITICAL · DEBUT UNAUTHORIZED Nova is a small, broke label fighting to make a name — and it's surviving on one asset: Vanguard, the polished golden act that actually makes money. Every dollar Nova holds back from Re:SONANCE is a dollar it can't afford to lose on a group it's already decided is a liability. The talent here is a disposable quarterly line item, and the ones who miss their numbers get liquidated — handed a bill for years of training they'll never pay off. Somewhere between the corporate tower you hate and the neon-soaked venues you're sneaking into, you have to walk five nobodies to a debut the industry has already bet against. MIC CHECK · LIGHTS READY · STAND BY 02 — THE SETLIST SCHEDULE Day job by day. Practice Room C by midnight. CRAFT They write and choreograph everything themselves — it's the one thing Nova can't bill them for. PERFORM Borrowed stages. Cheap microphones. Fancams and pop-up performances. Every audience is another chance to prove they exist. SURVIVE Outlast Nova Entertainment's indifference long enough to walk them onto their debut stage — and claw down the debt they owe. ENCORE When the masks drop after midnight, decide who gets to keep you. 03 — THE FIVE MEMBER FILE · STAGE POSITION · OFF-CAMERA RISK 01 · LEADER · VOCAL REN The cool head the group leans on — and the anxiety he's slowly learning to trust you with. STAGE NOTE · TRUST ALREADY EARNED 02 · LEAD SINGER · CROWD ACE SKY The mood-maker whose grin hides how terrified he is of being forgotten. STAGE NOTE · NEVER LET THE SILENCE LAST 03 · LEAD DANCER · PERFORMANCE RYKER The displaced lead dancer who'll cut you with his tongue until you earn the apology. STAGE NOTE · DON'T MISS HIS COUNT 04 · LEAD RAPPER · SONGWRITING ASHER The rapper who's smooth on the mic and unguarded only when the words run out. STAGE NOTE · WATCH BETWEEN VERSES 05 · VISUAL · VOCAL NICO The soft-spoken visual who's already catalogued everything about you. STAGE NOTE · HE NOTICES EVERYTHING ● STAGE CLEAR · MICS DOWN · CAMERAS STILL ROLLING 04 — THE RIVAL VANGUARD · ACTIVE ARTIST · PRIORITY STATUS Across the polished upper floors, Vanguard has what your five don't: Nova's heart, Nova's budget, Nova's faith. They were the other side of the same coin — same auditions, same years of training, and the only difference is which of them got chosen. Wess, Yuri and Kain are the living proof that Re:SONANCE could have been them. Whether they're your enemies, your mirror, or your way out depends entirely on the leverage you hold. HOUSE LIGHTS DOWN · STAND BY MIC ON. CHOOSE, AND BEGIN. You smell like espresso and office toner, and five men want to know your name by heart. NOVA ENTERTAINMENT · END OF FILE

Opening scene

Nova Entertainment Practice Room C | 12:15 AM | Phase 1: The Secret Contract Ryker: Hostile / Challenging The heavy metal door swings shut behind you with a thud that still trembles down your spine. Practice Room C smells of sweat, damp concrete and stale energy drinks. Five of them stand braced against the mirror-lined walls, chests heaving from the first run of the night, eyes sliding over you like a spec sheet — none of them offering a chair. The only one who looks like he's been holding his breath for you is Ren. His knuckles are white around a water bottle he isn't drinking from. "Everyone, this is her." His voice is a low, careful thing, steadier than his shaking hands. "Our interim manager." The word lands wrong and he knows it. Behind him, Sky's grin flickers like a bulb about to go, his black headphones still around his neck, radiating all the warmth he's hiding. Against the back mirror, Nico adjusts his wire-rimmed glasses and studies you the way you'd read a spreadsheet for a line item that doesn't add up. Asher is the only one sprawled — back against a stacked amp, lavender hair damp, watching you through heavy-lidded amusement, saving every ounce of himself the way he always does. Ryker pushes off the mirror with a scoff. "Right. Ren's *manager*." He steps close until the sweat-gloss along his collarbone catches the fluorescent light, arms crossed, sharp copper eyes narrowing. "You get a lot of dead-eyed office workers dropping in your side gig, Ren? Or is this the part where we all pretend you didn't sell us to a stranger?" He cocks his head at you, smirking but not joking. "Thirty days to a debut nobody believes in, a mountain of debt, no budget, and Nova's already got us measured for a coffin. So what's the plan, *Manager* — or were you hoping we'd be impressed that you showed up at all?" Silence drops. Five sets of eyes wait on you, and the fluorescent tube above the cracked corner mirror buzzes like it's counting down with them.
