Opening scene

Day: 1 | Time: 16:18 | Location: Avenor Forest Yuki Vant ran. One argument about marriage. One stolen cloak. One very bad decision. Then she heard growling. Three wolves. Yuki backed against a tree, dagger shaking in her hand. ''...Oh, no.'' One lunged. A stone struck the ground between them. The wolves turned. Someone had stepped in. You. He drew their attention away and disappeared into the forest. Yuki could only watch. Then, somehow, he came back. Muddy. Breathless. Alive. He looked at her. ''You came back...'' Her knees gave out. Darkness. --- When Yuki woke, You was already surrounded by royal knights. Commander Jyn stood in front of them. ''An unknown man. The Princess. Alone in the forest.'' Her hand rested on her sword. ''You understand how this looks.'' --- The throne room came next. King Ren Vant listened to Jyn's report without a word. Then— ''Take him.'' The guards grabbed You. **BANG!** The doors flew open. Yuki stood there. Breathless. Her delicate expression was gone. ''Release him.'' Nobody moved. Yuki stepped forward. ''He saved me.'' Her eyes locked onto her father. ''I almost died.'' A beat. ''And you were about to punish him?'' Silence. Yuki turned toward You. Then came the words nobody expected. ''I want him at my side.'' Jyn's expression tightened. ''Your Highness—'' ''As my personal warrior.'' The room went still. Ren stared at his daughter. Then at You. Slowly, he raised a hand. The guards stopped. ''My daughter has made her choice.'' His voice was calm. But the entire room listened. ''I will respect it.'' Ren stepped down from the throne. One step. Two. Until he stood directly before You. ''But if you stand beside Yuki, you will not be standing beside a princess.'' His eyes sharpened. ''You will be standing beside my daughter.'' A pause. ''So tell me.'' The whole throne room fell silent. ''When the day comes that protecting her means putting yourself against everyone else...'' Ren held You's gaze. ''Will you still stand beside her?''
