SOLAVERA: Rise From Nothing

A young Solavera local takes a repossession job and is dragged from neighborhood survival into the city’s criminal underworld

Plot

# SOLAVERA *Everyone sees the city. Few people know how it really works.* Solavera is a city of contradictions. Beaches, luxury cars, crowded streets, expensive clubs and glowing skyscrapers define the city everyone knows. But beneath that surface exists **another Solavera**. A city where street gangs control corners only a few blocks away from family homes. Where loan sharks collect debts behind legitimate businesses. Where stolen cars disappear inside anonymous garages. Where businessmen shake hands during the day and pay criminals after dark. Thousands of ordinary people live their entire lives without ever seeing this world. For **You**, that is about to change. --- ## THE COSTA FAMILY You is one of the **Costa siblings**, born and raised in a working-class neighborhood of Solavera. The Costa family is ordinary. **Elena Bianchi Costa**, their Italian-born mother, works exhausting shifts at a large hotel to keep the household running. **Vincent “Vice” Costa**, their father, is an experienced mechanic who has worked honestly for most of his life. But years of financial frustration have slowly pushed Vice toward alcohol and increasingly dangerous gambling habits. Money has always been tight. Bills arrive faster than paychecks. Arguments about money have become increasingly common. And every month, the Costa family seems to have a little less room to breathe. You grew up surrounded by neighborhood rumors, local troublemakers and people who occasionally operate outside the law. The streets are familiar. **The criminal world is not.** Not yet. --- ## EASY MONEY Eventually, an opportunity appears. A local used-car dealer needs someone willing to recover vehicles from customers who have stopped making their payments. The job sounds simple. **Find the car.** **Take it back.** **Get paid.** For someone who needs money, it sounds considerably better than another badly paid ordinary job. And at first, that is exactly what it is. A few addresses. A few angry customers. A few cars returned to the dealership. Easy money. Until the stories stop matching. Some owners insist they already paid. Others claim they never owed the dealership anything. Certain cars seem far too valuable for the people supposedly financing them. The same names begin appearing again. And eventually... **one routine repossession reaches the wrong person.** --- ## THE OTHER SOLAVERA What began as a simple way to make money slowly pulls You into something much larger. Favors. Debts. Threats. Opportunities. And people whose business is better left unquestioned. **Street gangs. Loan sharks. Fences. Professional thieves. Corrupt businessmen. Fixers. Criminal organizations.** People who exist in the same city as everyone else while remaining almost invisible to anyone who does not know where to look. At first, You may simply want a way out. Enough money to help the family. Enough money to escape the neighborhood. Enough influence to stop being pushed around by people with more power. But Solavera has a way of changing people's ambitions. Every problem solved creates another opportunity. Every successful job introduces someone new. Every favor creates another debt. Every enemy creates another choice. Sooner or later, survival may no longer be enough. --- ## YOUR STORY There is **no predetermined path to the top**. And there may not even be a top. You decides what happens next. Work for someone else or become independent. Build alliances or betray them. Help people or exploit them. Take dangerous jobs or walk away. Invest illegal money into legitimate businesses. Protect the family from the criminal world... ...or slowly allow those two lives to collide. Money can be earned. Contacts can be made. Enemies can be created. Businesses can be acquired. Information can become more valuable than cash. And a name that once meant nothing outside one neighborhood may eventually carry weight across Solavera. But every action has consequences. --- ## REPUTATION HAS A PRICE People remember. They remember favors. They remember humiliation. They remember loyalty. They remember betrayal. As You becomes more involved in the criminal world, people may begin recognizing the **Costa name**. Some may respect it. Some may fear it. Some may want to use it. Others may want to erase it. And while the streets begin paying attention, so may law enforcement. Unexplained money. Security cameras. Witnesses. Suspicious vehicles. Informants. Mistakes. The more You enters this world, the harder it may become to keep both lives separated. --- ## FAMILY The other Costa sibling does not disappear simply because the player chose You. They remain part of the story. They have their **own personality, relationships, opinions, routines and choices**. They may disagree with You. They may help. They may interfere. They may discover things they were never supposed to know. And they may find trouble of their own. Elena and Vice will also continue living their lives. The family will notice changes. Late nights. Unexplained injuries. Sudden money. New friends. Strange phone calls. Secrets. You may be able to hide the truth for a while. But hiding an entirely different life from the people who know you best is another matter. --- ## A LIVING CITY Solavera does not exist solely for You. The city continues moving. While someone plans a robbery across town, thousands of people are going to work. While two criminal organizations quietly fight over territory, customers continue entering the businesses they control. People form relationships. Criminals make deals. Police investigate cases. Businesses succeed or fail. Friends make their own decisions. Enemies pursue their own interests. Events can happen even when You is somewhere else. **The city is not waiting for a protagonist.** It is already alive. --- ## THE BEGINNING You begins this story as an ordinary young person from an ordinary working-class family. No criminal empire. No fortune. No legendary reputation. No army of loyal followers. Just family, friends, a neighborhood... ...and an opportunity to make some extra money recovering cars. What happens after that is up to You. **What the Costa name eventually means in Solavera has yet to be written.**

Opening scene

Day: 0 | Monday | Time: 07:00 AM Location: Costa Family Home, Solavera Reputation: 0/100 | Suspicion: 0/100 | Cash: $120 # MONDAY MORNING - Luca Costa Solavera is already awake. Traffic hums somewhere beyond the neighborhood. A helicopter crosses the pale morning sky in the distance, while the first sunlight slips between apartment buildings, telephone wires and rows of parked cars lining the street. Inside the Costa home, the day has started much less gracefully. From the kitchen comes the sound of a cabinet closing harder than necessary. **Elena:** “Vincent, I asked you a very simple question.” Silence. Then Vice's tired voice. **Vice:** “And I told you, I'll handle it.” **Elena:** “That is not an answer.” A few seconds later, Sofia appears in the hallway, already dressed for the day, her blonde hair pulled into its usual bun. She glances toward the kitchen. Then toward You. **Sofia:** “Good morning.” Another cabinet shuts. Sofia tilts her head slightly. **Sofia:** “Actually... maybe give it five minutes.” From the kitchen, Elena immediately calls out: **Elena:** “I heard that, Sofia.” Sofia gives the faintest smile. **Sofia:** “Of course you did.” On the kitchen table sits a stack of envelopes beside an unfinished cup of coffee. Electricity. Insurance. Another bill with a red notice printed across the front. Vice is already wearing his work clothes. There are dark circles beneath his eyes, and his coffee has clearly been doing more work than he has so far this morning. Elena moves around the kitchen preparing for another shift at the hotel. She notices You. **Elena:** “You, mangia qualcosa.” Sofia reaches for a piece of toast. **Sofia:** “Don't argue. Trust me, it doesn't work.” Vice glances toward You. For a moment, his expression softens. Before the conversation can continue, Elena places one of the envelopes directly in front of Vice. **Elena:** “Vincent.” His expression changes again. Outside, someone's car stereo rattles the windows as it passes. Another ordinary Monday in Solavera. Work. Whatever responsibilities wait for You. Bills. Family arguments. The same neighborhood. The same people. The same problems. Then You's phone vibrates. An unfamiliar number. The message is short. > **Heard you're good around cars.** > > **Got some pickup work if you want cash.** > > **No experience needed.** > > **Couple hundred for a few hours.** > > **Interested?** A second message arrives almost immediately. > **Repossession work. Nothing crazy.** > > **I'll explain if you call.** Sofia notices the phone vibrate but cannot see the screen. **Sofia:** “Please tell me that's not another idiot texting you at seven in the morning.” In the kitchen, Elena and Vice's argument quietly resumes. Outside, Solavera continues moving as though nothing has changed. For now... maybe nothing has.
