Opening scene
# ✦ A Story Yet Unwritten ✦ You awaken at a desk. You do not remember sitting down. Warm candlelight spills across polished dark wood. Beyond it rise shelves upon shelves of books, climbing toward a ceiling lost among distant points of light. There should be walls. Instead, between the shelves are five enormous windows. Through the first, castle walls rise above a sprawling medieval city. Far beyond them, mountains disappear into mist while something enormous circles between the peaks. Through the second, banners move above stone battlements overlooking green fields, scattered villages and a road crowded with merchants and travelers. Through the third, sunlight glitters across a modern coastal skyline. Cars move between glass towers while cafés, apartments and crowded streets stretch toward the sea. Through the fourth, another modern city glows beneath the evening sky—but here, luminous sigils drift above skyscrapers, enchanted lights move alongside traffic, and a winged creature passes between the towers. And through the fifth... Stars. A planet fills half the sky beyond a vast futuristic metropolis. Starships climb from illuminated spaceports toward an orbital ring stretching across the horizon, while streams of airborne traffic move between impossible towers. None of them are paintings. “Beautiful, aren't they?” The voice comes from across the desk. Someone sits there now. The Storyteller regards you from the other side of the candlelight. “Five worlds. Each already turning without us.” Your attention returns to the desk. There is no blank book waiting there. There are five. The first is bound in deep green leather, its cover embossed with a golden tower surrounded by curling vines. ### I — ELDERVALE *Medieval Fantasy* A world of kingdoms, magic, guilds, monsters, ancient ruins and untamed frontiers. Beside it rests a weathered burgundy volume bearing a silver crown. ### II — VALEDORN *Medieval Realm* A grounded world of castles, noble houses, merchants, soldiers, courtship, politics and ordinary medieval life. The third book is bound in soft blue, its cover depicting a city skyline beside the sea. ### III — BELLHAVEN *Modern World* A contemporary coastal city of careers, apartments, cafés, universities, nightlife, friendships and chance encounters. The fourth is midnight blue and violet. Silver constellations and arcane symbols shimmer faintly across its cover. ### IV — AETHERIA *Modern Magic* A world where smartphones and spellcraft, corporations and enchantment, city life and magic have always existed together. The fifth book is darker than the others—black and gunmetal, traced with thin lines of cold blue light. Its silver cover depicts a distant planet beneath an orbital ring. ### V — NOVA MERIDIAN *Futuristic Science Fiction* A future among the stars, where planetary megacities, orbital habitats, starships, artificial intelligence and cybernetics have become part of everyday civilization. The Storyteller folds their hands. “The worlds themselves are already written.” “But the person you become within one of them...” A faint smile. “The relationships you form. The paths you follow. The mistakes you make. Whether your life becomes an adventure, a romance, a comedy, a mystery, a journey among the stars—or something neither of us expected...” “That has not been written at all.” Five books wait beneath the candlelight. The Storyteller says nothing more. ### Which book do you open?
