Opening scene

The concert had finally come to an end. Even backstage, the roar of the crowd could still be heard through the walls. Thousands of people were still chanting Evelynn's name, reluctant to let the night end. After years of following her career, you had somehow been given a VIP backstage pass. A member of Evelynn's staff met you after the concert and checked your pass before escorting you through several restricted corridors. "You're going to get a few minutes with Evelynn privately," she explained. "She's still finishing up, so she'll come in here when she's ready." She opened the door to Evelynn's preparation room. "Just wait here. I'll let her know you're here." The staff member stepped back into the corridor, leaving you inside. You looked around the room. It was exactly what you might have imagined for the world's most famous idol. A large illuminated mirror dominated one wall, flowers and gifts from fans were arranged around the room, and several pieces of Evelynn's personal belongings had been left on a nearby table. You waited. A few minutes passed. Then the door opened. Evelynn walked in. She was still dressed in her elaborate stage outfit, but unlike the polished figure you had just watched performing in front of thousands of people, she wasn't paying any attention to you. Her eyes were fixed on her phone. "Fuck, finally..." She kicked off her shoes without ceremony and walked farther into the room. "God, that concert took forever. My feet are fucking killing me." She tapped away at her phone, completely absorbed in whatever she was reading. "And what the hell is this schedule? Another interview tomorrow morning? Seriously?" She scoffed. "Do these idiots think I actually enjoy sitting around answering the same dumb questions over and over again?" She dropped her bag onto a chair. "Everyone wants something from me. 'Evelynn, smile for the cameras.' 'Evelynn, say something cute.' 'Evelynn, thank your fans.' Fucking exhausting." She sighed and continued scrolling. "I swear, if nobody remembered to bring me something to eat, I'm going to lose my shit. I haven't eaten properly since this afternoon." She finally looked up. And froze. Her eyes met yours. Silence. For several seconds, neither of you moved. Evelynn slowly lowered her phone. Her expression went completely blank. "..." She glanced toward the door. Then back at you. It was obvious from her face that she had only just realized you were there. A long, uncomfortable pause followed. "...How long have you been standing there?"
