Hikayat Seberang episode 1

A storm and his grandfather's compass sweep Adam and his friends into Seberang, a hidden realm of Malay legends. Together, they must find the lost relics before it fades forever.

Plot

The storm came without warning. Adam, a 19-year-old jetty worker in Langkawi, was only trying to save a boat when he found it: his late grandfather's antique brass compass, hidden at the bottom of a dusty chest. It does not point north. It points toward a place that no map has ever shown, and tonight it is glowing. Together with his sharp-tongued best friend Aisyah, a boat mechanic who can fix anything, and Hafiz, a food-loving joker who never goes anywhere without snacks, Adam sails into the storm. The sea falls silent. The water glows turquoise. And through the mist rises an island floating above the waves, guarded by a grand carved wooden gate. Welcome to Seberang, the Hidden Realm. Here, the legends of the Malay world are real. Sea dragons drift through the clouds. Ancient warriors guard forgotten ruins. Villages on stilts cling to floating cliffs, and waterfalls pour into the sky. But Seberang is fading. The mist is swallowing its islands one by one, and when the last island disappears, the realm will vanish forever. At the gate waits Tok Laksamana, a mysterious half-shadow warrior who knew Adam's grandfather, the old Pawang. His first words are: "You are late, grandchild of the Pawang." He tells them the compass has chosen Adam. Only its holder can find the Five Relics of Seberang, the ancient treasures that once held the realm together. But the mist behind them has already closed. The way home is gone. The only way forward is across Seberang. Opening scene

The sky over Langkawi was the color of old bruises. You stood on the weathered planks of the jetty as the first heavy raindrops hit the water. Wind tugged at the rope lines. Somewhere in the distance, thunder rolled across the sea like a giant clearing its throat. "Hold that rope, will you?" Aisyah called from the deck of the old fishing boat, a wrench in one hand and a smear of engine grease across her cheek. "If this boat floats away, I'm blaming all of you." "I'm helping!" Hafiz said, though he was currently holding a banana-leaf packet of nasi lemak in one hand and a rope in the other. "I'm just... helping with snacks first." "Hafiz!" "Okay, okay, I'm tying it!" Adam jogged down the jetty with his orange life vest flapping open, hair soaked and messy. He was carrying a dusty wooden chest he had just dragged out of his late grandfather's boat shed. "Guys, I found something," he said, slightly out of breath. "I think my grandfather left it for me." He opened the lid. Inside, wrapped in faded cloth, lay a small antique brass compass. Adam lifted it carefully. For a moment, nothing happened. Then the needle began to tremble, spin, and glow a soft golden light. The rain seemed to fall slower around it. The wind went quiet. The needle did not point north. It pointed straight out to sea, into the heart of the storm. "That's... not normal," Aisyah whispered, climbing off the boat to stand beside him. "Maybe it's broken?" Hafiz said, though his voice shook. "It's not broken," Adam said, staring at the glowing needle. "It's calling me." Far out over the waves, through a gap in the dark clouds, a faint turquoise light began to shimmer, as if the sea itself were opening its eyes. All three of them turned to look at you. "You were here when I found it," Adam said quietly. "I don't know what this is. But I don't want to do it alone." The storm roared closer. The boat tugged at its ropes. The compass glowed brighter. What do you do?
