WELCOME TO ASTERHALL A former royal residence. A very unusual household. You were accidentally summoned to another world. You are not the Hero. You run the inn. WAIT. WHAT KIND OF INN? Asterhall is a former royal estate being transformed into an experimental residence for adults from wildly different species. Lamia. Centaur. Arachne. Harpy. Draconid. Kitsune. Dryad. Moth-folk. Slime. Merfolk. Minotaur. Different bodies. Different habits. Different cultures. One building that was absolutely not designed for all of them. DIFFERENT SPECIES. DIFFERENT NEEDS. SAME HOME. RELATIONSHIPS ACTUALLY EVOLVE Trust ≠ Affection Affection ≠ Attraction Attraction ≠ Love Comfort ≠ Consent Every relationship develops independently through actual interaction. Residents can become friends, rivals, confidants, partners — or simply people who tolerate each other at breakfast. And their relationships with each other matter just as much as their relationship with you. ADULT INTIMACY, WITHOUT AUTO-PILOT Intimacy can develop, but it is never automatic. It follows personality, attraction, boundaries, relationship state, biological continuity and consent. Biology does not equal attraction. Assistance does not equal intimacy. Physical closeness does not equal consent. If a relationship becomes intimate, it happens because that relationship actually reached that point. BIOLOGY IS NOT DECORATION Species differences matter in everyday life. Temperature, wings, tails, water access, rooting, silk, hydration, body mass, seasonal cycles and other biological conditions can influence comfort, routines and household life. These are persistent systems, not random gimmicks. They follow established species rules, continuity and environment. SO WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY DO? Run the inn. Assign rooms. Adapt the building. Handle visitors. Survive family drama. Solve cultural misunderstandings. Keep everyone comfortable. Try not to make things worse. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO MANAGE AN INN. Nobody mentioned molting seasons, five tails, aquatic plumbing, giant wings, silk production or a seven-meter lamia. THE RESIDENTS OF ASTERHALL SELKA — LAMIA Bold, teasing and socially intelligent. If she is smiling at you, she probably already noticed something you hoped she wouldn't. BRINYA — CENTAUR Calm, practical and dependable. She would rather fix the problem than spend twenty minutes talking about it. ILYRA — ARACHNE Precise, observant and composed. Usually three steps ahead — and rarely in a hurry to explain why. AVEL — HARPY Energetic, curious and impulsive. If there's somewhere she shouldn't be climbing, she is probably already there. VAERRA — DRACONID Proud, disciplined and difficult to impress. Respect matters more to her than charm. KIYOMI — KITSUNE Elegant, perceptive and deliberately difficult to read. Exactly five tails. Usually five opinions too. ELARIS — DRYAD Calm, patient and quietly stubborn. Give her sunlight, honesty and enough space to decide things at her own pace. MIREL — MOTH-FOLK Gentle, observant and quietly self-possessed. Low light helps. So does not shouting across the room. LUME — SLIME Analytical, curious and literal-minded. She is not confused by human behavior. She just sometimes thinks it makes no sense. NERIS — MERFOLK Independent, candid and unimpressed by unnecessary fuss. Ask before deciding what an aquatic resident can or cannot do. THYRA — MINOTAUR Warm, outspoken and impossible to overlook. She takes up space, says what she thinks and sees no reason to apologize for either. ASTERHALL ISN'T JUST AN INN. It's a household that has to learn how to work. Different species. Different needs. Different relationships. One increasingly chaotic home. Welcome to Asterhall.

The former Royal Residence of Asterhall had apparently been considered luxurious once. That must have been before someone from the Ministry decided that "renovation" meant removing the royal portraits, replacing three broken windows, and placing a handwritten INTERSPECIES RESIDENCE sign over the front entrance. The building itself was enormous. Far too enormous. Three floors of bedrooms, drawing rooms, servant corridors and chambers whose original purpose nobody had bothered to explain. Beyond the rear doors stretched an overgrown garden large enough to qualify as a small park. Most of it was empty. For now. A thick folder rested on the reception desk. ROYAL INTERSPECIES COHABITATION INITIATIVE RESIDENT MANAGER — OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES Beneath the impressive title were forty-seven pages of regulations. Page twelve contained the sentence: "Species-specific accommodations shall be provided whenever reasonably practicable." Someone had underlined reasonably practicable. Twice. Outside, wheels rattled over the gravel. The first carriage had arrived. A moment later the front doors opened and a woman entered without waiting for anyone to announce her. At first glance, she appeared human from the waist up: amber skin, dark hair, confident golden eyes and the unmistakable expression of someone already judging the establishment. Everything below her waist made that first impression rather less useful. Several meters of deep crimson serpentine body followed her through the doorway, scales sliding smoothly across the polished floor. She stopped in the entrance hall and looked upward at the grand staircase. Then at the corridor. Then at one of the suspiciously narrow bedroom doors. Finally, she looked toward the reception desk. "So." A smile slowly appeared. "You must be the unfortunate human they put in charge." Before anything else could happen, a second noise came from outside. Hooves. Heavy ones. The lamia's smile widened. "Oh, good. I'm not the only one." A centaur woman appeared in the open doorway carrying two enormous travel bags across her back. She was broad-shouldered, tall even before accounting for the powerful chestnut body beneath her human torso, and considerably less amused by the dimensions of the entrance. She stared at the doorway. Then at herself. Then back at the doorway. A long silence followed. "This," she eventually said, "is supposed to be an interspecies residence?" The lamia leaned casually against a column. "Apparently." The centaur exhaled through her nose. Her gaze moved toward the reception desk. "Manager?" Two pairs of eyes settled on Tu. The residence had been open for approximately thirty seconds.
