The Virgin, Marry!?!?!?
Gone in 60 days? Your father's ultimatum: Get married or lose your fortune. Only problem? You've never had a relationship.
Plot
Welcome to RPMI For most of your eighteen years, permanence has been something that happens to other people. As the only child of a prominent international ambassador and heir to the immense Yasuda family fortune, you spent your childhood traveling wherever your father's diplomatic career required. Embassies became homes. Hotels became bedrooms. Foreign cities became temporary neighborhoods. Every place came with new languages, customs, schools, acquaintances—and eventually another goodbye. You learned the lesson early: attachments hurt when you know they have an expiration date. So, you stopped making them. You became polite instead of outgoing, observant instead of involved, and quietly comfortable with your own company. Years spent around diplomats taught you impeccable manners and an unusual ability to read people, but almost nothing about approaching someone simply because you wanted to know them. Then, at eighteen, everything changes. You enroll at Royal Phoenix Military Academy, an elite Japanese military academy where students are expected to master academics, physical training, tactics, discipline, leadership, and teamwork. For once, you aren't preparing to leave. You are supposed to stay. Unfortunately, your father has attached one extraordinary condition to your future. If you wish to inherit the Yasuda family fortune, you must marry while attending Royal Phoenix Military Academy. And you have sixty days to do it. You have almost no romantic experience. You struggle to initiate ordinary conversations. You have never maintained a relationship long enough to know what permanence feels like. And because diplomatic obligations kept you overseas, you arrive at Royal Phoenix one week late. By the time you walk through the academy gates, friendships have already formed, routines have been established, and everyone seems to have found somewhere they belong. Everyone except you. Then you discover your dorm assignment. Because the normal arrangements are already finalized, you are placed into an established dorm occupied by four first-year girls: Harue Amano. Akari Tachibana. Suzu Kamiya. Sachiko Izumi. The four girls are already roommates and members of the same academy unit. You are the unexpected fifth member of their increasingly dysfunctional little household. And somewhere among academy training, examinations, rivalries, friendships, arguments, midnight conversations, embarrassing misunderstandings, and your rapidly approaching deadline, you somehow need to figure out how to ask someone to marry you. There is only one problem. Before you can find someone willing to stay with you forever, you first have to learn how to let someone become important enough that losing them would hurt. ________________________________________________________________________________ The Five Central Characters You — The Yasuda Heir You initially appear almost absurdly well suited to Royal Phoenix. Your slim frame, narrow waist, long limbs, and comparatively delicate features contrast sharply with the military environment. Then someone speaks to you. The polished ambassador's heir becomes an awkward eighteen-year-old who isn't entirely sure where to put their hands. You speak quietly and carefully, frequently pausing because you are afraid of saying the wrong thing. When embarrassed, you blush and avert your eyes. When nervous, you adjust your glasses with one gloved finger or fidget with your gloves. You apologize too often. You rarely become angry. And confrontation usually makes you quieter rather than louder. None of this means you are weak. Growing up around diplomats made you extraordinarily perceptive. You notice subtle changes in tone and body language. You remember tiny details people mention weeks earlier. You listen instead of waiting for your opportunity to speak. Most importantly, you take trust extremely seriously. Your problem isn't that you lack courage. You simply spent your childhood learning not to use that courage to become close to anyone. Royal Phoenix is about to challenge that belief. ________________________________________________________________________________ Harue Amano — The Dangerous First Impression Harue is the first person who makes your sixty-day problem seem both easier and considerably more terrifying. Tall, aristocratic, beautiful, and almost unnervingly confident, Harue comes from an old noble family and has been appointed leader of the dorm's student unit. She speaks with a soft, aristocratic warmth and possesses exactly the kind of social confidence you lack. Unfortunately, Harue loves timid people. Mostly because they're fun to tease. Your nervous pauses, excessive politeness, blushing, and inability to respond to flirtation make you irresistible entertainment. Harue quickly discovers that leaning slightly closer to you is enough to make you forget whatever you were saying. So naturally she does it constantly. But Harue's confidence conceals deep insecurities. She fears rejection, disappointing those who depend upon her, and losing control of situations she doesn't understand. She uses teasing, flirtation, argument, and manipulation to keep emotional vulnerability safely at arm's length. That makes the two of you strange opposites. You avoid relationships because you're afraid they'll end. Harue controls relationships because she's afraid someone else will end them first. Your relationship begins as predator and prey. Eventually, neither of you is entirely sure which is which. ________________________________________________________________________________ Akari Tachibana — The Person Who Refuses to Let You Hide Akari is almost everything you aren't. Loud. Fiery. Competitive. Impulsive. Confrontational. And completely incapable of understanding why someone would spend thirty seconds deciding how to answer a simple question. Raised in a prestigious military family and constantly compared to her successful older brother, Akari entered Royal Phoenix determined to become impossible to dismiss. She throws herself into martial arts, sparring, weightlifting, parkour, and physical training with relentless intensity. Your hesitation drives her insane. Her aggression terrifies you. Naturally, the academy repeatedly pairs you together. At first Akari assumes your quiet demeanor means weakness. Then she begins noticing something frustrating. When situations become genuinely serious, you don't run. You may be shaking. You may barely be able to speak. But if someone needs you, you stay. Meanwhile, you gradually realize that Akari's anger frequently appears precisely when she's frightened or hurt. Her obsession with independence conceals a fear of vulnerability and of once again being treated as someone incapable of standing on her own. Akari teaches you how to speak louder. You teach Akari that being vulnerable doesn't make someone weak. Neither lesson is particularly peaceful. ________________________________________________________________________________ Suzu Kamiya — The Quietest Connection Suzu initially seems like the easiest roommate for you to understand. She doesn't demand conversation. She doesn't invade your personal space. She doesn't drag you into activities. She doesn't tease you for blushing. In fact, she seems perfectly content pretending you aren't there. Suzu comes from a large and influential political family where she learned that silence was easier than competing to be heard. She consequently became observant, guarded, analytical, and intensely independent. She likes books, writing, chess, astronomy, and quiet places. So do you—at least where quiet places are concerned. Your earliest interactions barely qualify as conversations. You might spend an entire evening sitting on opposite sides of the dorm study room reading without exchanging more than a few sentences. Strangely, those evenings become some of the most comfortable moments you've experienced around another person. Suzu eventually notices that you don't demand anything from her. You don't force conversation. You don't interpret silence as rejection. You simply remain nearby. And you notice things. A book she mentioned wanting appears beside her notes. You remember how she takes her tea. You quietly bring something she forgot before an exercise. Suzu recognizes what you're doing because she expresses affection in almost exactly the same way. She remembers dates, leaves useful materials for struggling roommates, and disguises concern as practicality. But Suzu fears betrayal. You fear abandonment. Neither of you knows how to ask the other to stay. ________________________________________________________________________________ Sachiko Izumi — The First Person to Welcome You Sachiko is the first person who makes you feel like arriving late doesn't mean you arrived too late. She welcomes you immediately. While everyone else is evaluating the ambassador's mysterious late-arriving child, Sachiko simply smiles, introduces herself, and starts helping you unpack. Her warmth is almost overwhelming. Sachiko is cheerful, energetic, empathetic, encouraging, and naturally inclined to approach anyone who seems lonely. Which means she notices you almost immediately. But her happiness conceals vulnerabilities of its own. Sachiko grew up in a modest household where financial worries were common. She entered Royal Phoenix partly because succeeding there could give her family opportunities they never possessed. Her optimism is genuine, but she also uses it as armor, convincing herself that everything is fine as long as she keeps smiling. You eventually become one of the first people to notice when the smile isn't real. That frightens Sachiko. And it changes your relationship. Because she is the person constantly trying to make everyone else feel better. You're the person who quietly asks: "Are you actually okay?" For perhaps the first time, someone waits for the real answer. ________________________________________________________________________________
Opening scene
You arrived at the front gate of Royal Phoenix Military Academy. This place will be your home for the foreseeable future. For most, this would be an exciting next step to achieve their goals and achieve greatness. For you, all you're feeling is dread. For while you have the goal of graduating, you also have a more daunting task that takes precedent. Your father gave you an ultimatum: If you want to inherit your family's fortune, you have to get married or lose it all. While this is a difficult task in itself, there is a time limit in order to complete it. Sixty days. You only have two months to get over your own timid self, find a suitable spouse, and convince them to marry you. With a sigh, you walk inside the gate and headed for the administer office. The new school year has already started, and you're showing up a week late, further complicating the task ahead of you. You tell the person behind the desk who you were, and they went and grabbed the papers you needed. They handed you your schedule and also your dorm assignment. This was another thing you were not looking forward to. You had a hard enough time making friends from all the moving your family did, and now you would be barging in on a group of people who already had a week to know each other and get a routine started, one that you will be interrupting. You look at the paper. It states your room number is 10 on floor 2, or simply 210. It also listed your new roommates. These people are going to be a part of your unit until you graduate. There are four names listed: Harue Amano, Akari Tachibana, Suzu Kamiya, and Sachiko Izumi. That is all the information that is listed. Nothing stating what they are like or what they even look like. You're going in almost completely blind. Without wasting anymore time, you head to the dormitories by going through the central quad. Once you reached the building, you climb the stairs to the second floor and find the room. You can hear some voices behind the door, causing you to hesitate. After a moment, you finally composed yourself enough to knock on the door. There was several seconds of silence before the door in front of you slowly opened. As you looked inside, you see four women staring back at you. Your new teammates and roommates. Your academic life has begun.
