Ground Zero Dead World
zombie apocalypse with all kinds of horrors
Plot
The world You knew has ended. Without warning, an unknown infection began spreading among the population. At first there were a few isolated cases: people with fever, strange behavior, and episodes of violence. Authorities tried to contain the situation, but the disease spread much faster than they could control. Within days, hospitals, roads, and entire cities collapsed. Communications disappeared one after another. Governments stopped responding. Security forces abandoned many areas while trying to protect strategic facilities. Millions of people fled the cities without really knowing what they were escaping from. The infected stopped behaving like normal people. Now they wander the streets, buildings, and roads looking for any human being still alive. The Beginning The story begins when You wakes up inside a small abandoned building on the outskirts of the devastated Chinese city of Shanghai. The building seems to have been used as a shelter during the first days of the disaster. There are some water bottles, canned food, bandages, basic tools, and a small abandoned backpack. However, most of the resources have already been used by someone. Outside the building, the city remains eerily silent. Cars are abandoned on the roads. Some houses have their doors open. There are signs of evacuation and makeshift barricades, but also indications that something went terribly wrong. You will have to quickly figure out what happened and how to survive. The building can serve as a temporary shelter, but it is not completely safe. Sounds from outside indicate that there are infected nearby, and sooner or later, You will have to go out to get food, water, medicine, and other resources. Survival Survival depends on practical decisions. You will need to search for food and water, find safe places to rest, obtain tools and improvised weapons, manage resources, and avoid unnecessary confrontations. Abandoned buildings may contain supplies, but they may also be occupied by infected or other survivors. Not all humans encountered will be enemies. Some survivors will be looking for help, others will try to form communities, and others will have decided to survive on their own. Some will hide information, distrust You, or have their own goals. Relationships with these groups can change depending on You's actions. The Infection The infection does not behave exactly the same in all individuals. Most infected progressively lose their human capabilities and end up behaving aggressively. However, there are differences among them. Some are slow and easy to avoid individually. Others retain greater mobility and can pursue their victims for long periods. There are also infected who have undergone mutations due to prolonged exposure to the infection. These individuals are much less common and represent a considerably greater threat. The most dangerous variants do not appear constantly. Their presence is usually related to certain areas, contamination levels, or advanced stages of the spread. Therefore, finding abnormal signs can be a warning that a greater threat is nearby. ## The Survivors As You explores the city, they will begin to encounter survivors. Some remain hidden in small shelters. Others have formed organized groups to protect certain areas. Each group has its own rules, resources, and goals. Some seek food and safety. Others try to discover what caused the outbreak. Some believe there is a scientific facility responsible for the infection. Others simply want to leave the area before it is too late. You can cooperate with them, remain independent, or confront them depending on the circumstances. You's decisions can determine which characters end up becoming allies, enemies, or simply strangers. ## The First Clues While exploring the city, You will find documents, recordings, messages, and objects belonging to people who lived through the first days of the disaster. At first they seem like unrelated events. A hospital that received patients before the outbreak. A pharmaceutical company that suddenly evacuated its workers. A closed military zone. Trucks transporting biological material. Missing people. And finally, repeated references to a laboratory located far from the city. No one knows for sure what happened there. The clues will not immediately reveal the truth. Some will be incomplete, others damaged, and some may even be false. But little by little a disturbing possibility will emerge: **the infection may not have appeared accidentally.** The System At certain moments, You may begin to receive messages known simply as **System**. These messages provide limited information about certain situations, dangers, or changes in the environment. The System does not explain everything that happens nor does it necessarily answer all questions. It can warn about nearby threats, record certain events, or show information related to survival. However, its true origin and purpose remain unknown. It is not clear who created it, why it exists, or whether it really intends to help You. As the story progresses, the System's appearances will begin to gain greater importance. ## The Escalation During the first days, the greatest threat will be common infected and lack of resources. Then increasingly difficult situations will appear. Previously safe areas will cease to be safe. Survivor groups will begin to compete for resources. Some communities will disappear. New variants of infected will begin to appear in places where they did not exist before. Danger signs will become more evident: corpses of different infected, strange marks, contaminated areas, unknown sounds, or testimonies of survivors who managed to escape from encounters impossible to explain. You will have to learn to recognize these signs before facing superior threats. ## The Laboratory Finally, the clues will lead to a scientific facility located far from the city. Getting there will not be easy. The path will be full of infested areas, blocked roads, abandoned buildings, and human groups with different interests. When You manages to get close to the laboratory, they will discover that the infection has a much more complex history than it seemed. The documents found there may reveal information about the origin of the outbreak, the experiments carried out, and the reason why certain people developed different forms of infection. But even then, not all the truth will be available. Some facilities will be destroyed. Some records will have been deleted. And some people related to the project may still be alive. ## You's Goal You does not begin as a hero destined to save the world. Their first goal is much simpler: **survive.** Over time, that goal may change. You can search for missing people, help other survivors, build or find a permanent shelter, discover the origin of the infection, confront hostile groups, investigate the System, or try to find a way to escape the area. The direction of the story will depend on You's decisions. There is no single mandatory path. The world will continue to develop even when You is not present, and the characters encountered will have their own goals, relationships, conflicts, and reactions. The story begins with a person waking up alone in an abandoned shelter. And it ends when You decides what to do with the world that remains.
