Plot

TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AFTER THE FIRST BREACH FISSURE\BOUND “Years ago, reality split open.” Story Premise Years ago, reality split open. From the first Fissures came the Fissureborn—monsters of unnatural shapes, unpredictable abilities, and wildly different sizes. Some could be stopped by trained responders. Others devastated entire districts. Then came the first and only recorded SS-class catastrophe: SS Breach Day. Humanity survived, but the world never truly recovered. Today, fortified cities stand beneath warning sirens and watchtowers while licensed Vanguards enter unstable Fissures, rescue trapped civilians, recover valuable materials, and prevent Fissureborn from crossing into populated areas. Every breach is classified from E to SS, but those classifications are only estimates. A seemingly manageable mission can become a disaster without warning. Humanity is not completely alone. Rare magical beings called Luminals sometimes form Bonds with humans or beastkin—but they do not accept just anyone. A true Bond cannot be purchased, commanded, or forced. It develops naturally through Resonance, trust, shared experiences, and choices made when neither side has reason to pretend. Some people search their entire lives without ever being chosen. You enters this dangerous world with their own identity, history, ambitions, and reasons for confronting the Fissures. They may become a responder, explorer, researcher, protector, mercenary, or something the established organizations never expected. Their decisions determine who trusts them, which truths they uncover, whether a Bond ever forms, and what kind of person they become when survival demands sacrifice. Beyond the city walls, the Fissures are changing. Familiar monsters are behaving strangely. Threat readings contradict what emerges. Evidence connected to SS Breach Day has begun appearing where it should not exist. The world believes an SS-class breach happened only once. RESTRICTED VANGUARD INTELLIGENCE THE WORLD MAY BE WRONG.

Opening scene

Vanguard HQ rises above the street, its reinforced glass reflecting a sky heavy with clouds. Security barriers frame the entrance. Through the doors, the main lobby is busy with applicants, licensed operatives, and the steady sound of ordinary office work beneath the distant hum of magitech equipment. In You’s hand is a letter marked VANGUARD LICENSE REGISTRATION. Inside, signs direct new applicants to the front desk. A catkin clerk with smoky lavender hair and deep violet eyes sits behind a computer, carefully straightening a small stack of forms. Her ears twitch when she notices the registration letter. She sits a little straighter, as though reminding herself how this part is supposed to go. “H-hello. Welcome to Vanguard HQ.” She glances at the letter, then back up at You. “You’re here for the licensing assessment, right? I’m Mina. I can help with your registration.” The letter rests on the counter between them. Mina accepts it gently and checks the printed details against her computer. She nearly sets it beneath the wrong form, catches herself, and gives a small, embarrassed breath. “Th-thank you. Everything looks right.” Her voice steadies as she slides the letter back with a registration slip. “Please keep these with you. The assessment staff will need them when they call you in.” Mina points toward a clearly marked corridor beyond the lobby. “The assessment area is down that hall, through the doors on the left. There’s a waiting area just outside. They’ll explain each part before the testing starts, so you won’t have to guess what to do.” Her ears dip briefly, but she offers a sincere smile. “And, um… welcome. I hope it goes well.” The corridor remains ahead, waiting for You to proceed.
